Buying a Used Laptop

Watch the sale papers from Staples and others. You can frequenty find a brand-spankin' new laptop for 399 bucks that has a dual-core processor, 4GB of memory, a big hard drive, and more than enough power to do real computing. Netbooks have put huge pressure on notebook pricing, and ALL notebooks are less expensive as a result. Given that new reality, I don't see why anyone would buy used unless it was VERY cheap.

Birdie, don't ever buy a used 4yr old laptop (especially one that has already had problems) unless you are rebuilding it yourself as a project. My opinion, but you can get new equipment for not that much more without all the baggage.

dont expect to do much other than surf web and some office programs. find out what the specs are. ex: harddrive size, memory and I think it has a Pentium 3 800+mhz cpu. also find out if the battery will hold charge and if so how long. Now think what you want to do with the laptop.

1. do i want to edit photos?
2. do I want to watch movies?
3. do I want to put money into it to upgrade it to use newer programs

I want to Buy a used Dell C600 Laptop with a Wireless card about 4yrs old.(refurbished when they bought it). How much would you all pay for one like that? I don't have the money to buy a new one. It sounds like a good deal at less than $200.00, but I don't know, if it's worth that or not. I don't know much about computers or laptops to buy without asking gowilkes TECH their advice.Thank you.
