Do a repair of the OS with an Operating System Disc. If you don't have one get one from a torrent and run a repair. Be very careful with torrents though as they are prone to consisting of viruses and other malware. I am not condoning illegal use. Please use your valid product key if you decide to reload with this disc.

BSOD can also be caused by errors in RAM and overheating - just FYI.

I would try a registry cleaner before reformatting, if that does not work then a reformat is probably best. Ccleaner is a good free registry cleaner.

There's a couple of possibilities. The most likely is that you're running an antivirus (like McAfee or Norton) that's not compatible with something else that you have installed. So, try uninstalling your antivirus first.
If that solves the problem, download AVG or Avast Free instead. You can find those here, under Tech.
If that doesn't work, I found a hotfix for a USB bug, here -
"Stop 0x00007E" or "Stop 0x000050" Stop error message in Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2This behavior occurs when you unload a USB video device or when you shutdown this computer.
Note
The parameters in this error message vary, depending on the configuration of the computer. Not all "0x00007E" or "0x000050" Stop errors are caused by this problem. | http://support.microsoft.co...9538/en-usClick on the link "View and request hotfix downloads ", select the platform (x86 or x64) and type in your email twice and type in the captcha ad click request hotfix. After 1 minute you have an email with the link to download an exe. Use the password which is included inside the email to extract the update. If that doesn't work, then you really might have an error in your registry. The only real way to fix that is to reinstall Windows. Don't format, though; just do a reinstall, and it might salvage some of your other software. If that doesn't fix it, the only other thing I can think of would be faulty RAM, or a bad CPU.

It says windows shut down due to an unexpected error. When it ask for windows to check for a solution it comes back with nothing. It shows a "blue screen" error. It shuts down the whole computer but I can turn it back on and operate fine. The next time it does it I will copy and past the error on here.
