sAs Wizegeye points out.... Using one product will not get every threat. To maintain your computer you might want to try this list as a starting point.
1. One All in One tweaking program ( like advanced system 3) 2. At least two programs to remove malware (Anti-Malware ,PC Tools Threat Fire, spybot etc.) 3. One Anti-Virus Program (AVG Free,AntiVir, or Avast) 4. Use a firewall program (like zone alarm) 5. Use an alternative Web Browser (like Safari, Opera, Firefox, etc.)
McAfee has had trouble with recent updates.

have used several, and recently having had worries about virus and malware attacks, I checked out lots ot um. But in the end, McAfee is doin' a good job, I also have Spybot, but neither Mc or Spybot every finds anything. So the McAfee firewall is doing it's job.

Ok I already use that - Spybots S&D - but the last time I had my computer serviced - they suggested using the Advance also - just curious

I use spybot search and destroy. It's pretty thorough, but you need to re-vaccinate your browser everytime you update the browser. It has something called "tea-timer" that sits in your systray and prevents anything from changing registry settings which is nice.
charter has free antivirus/malware software if you are with them. It's pretty good, but a memory hog (like most anti-virus programs).
