Jason... you're one of the best. I'm glad to know you.

I don't know of any company nearby that handles virus removal (at least, not well), and warranty usually wouldn't cover it.

Also, most antivirus programs are useless.

First things first, go to http://www.download.com, and download MalwareBytes Anti-Malware. This will catch the majority of viruses for you, and it's free.

If that doesn't work, then can you post EXACTLY what the message says? I need it word-for-word, so that I can track down which virus it is. Then, I can give instructions on how to manually remove it.

BTW, I'll move this to Tech Talk shortly.

I called them first thing, they said I needed to take it to a repair shop. I'm on Wilkes.

call your provider sometimes they can go in and actually manipulate your computer from their computer.. I had to do that the first time. don't pay the 60 that the virus thing wants. they are the ones who put the virus in your computer. and you don't REALLY have 38 viruses... you just have one. It's the one that tells you that you have 38 to get your money. It's a nasty virus. start with your internet provider, then check with your computer manufacturer.

Last night I was playing pool on this site & all of a sudden all kinds of warnings went off saying my computer had viruses, I have virus protection, but it would not let it open, nothing would work, I could not do anything, then a page came up said click here to remove viruses, so I did, it wanted $60 o ****70 to remove the viruses. It was trying to get money out of me, I don't know why all this happened nor knew what to do so finally I shut it down. Turned it on this morn, said I still had 38 viruses, so I just left it alone & was going to call around & see what I should do, when I checked on it again, AVG had a screen up asking did I want them to remove the viruses, well duh, so they did, but it's still not acting right,

I'm putting this on here in case it happens to you, do NOT give them any money & if you don't have good virus protection, get it. I'm not saying it happened because of being on this site, I know very little about how computers really work, I just wanted to warn you, I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
