Football season is upon us.... so what is everyone's prediction on how the Conference standings will go? I haven't heard much of anything on here, other than some minor shake ups here and there.

EW will be fine without him(Robinson)..He definitely will be a game changer..but i dont think he will effect the varsity level as a freshmen the way Jo Raye Morrison did for Wilkes Central.

Very little in which way...? Elkin I'm sure wont do any more for him on a personal level than EW. If he goes to Elkin..he will do well in sports and hopefully academics as well. You know how it is..when a person or there parents minds are set on transferring a kid to greener pastures..it's not usually on a whim of a thought...It's something that has brewing in their mind for a long time...I knew from day 1 that he would never suit up for EW..honestly some people may seem to think they're above going to the lil ole country school..the Metropolis of Elkin..lol..seems more their cup of tea. Good luck to him...i ser Elkin winning the small 1a title in maybe 2 years.

I am not sure why the Robinson kid left East, hope it is just a rumor, but from what I am hearing, he is at Elkin. At times a great kid, very talented with lots of potential to improve, that's scary. He is definitely going to be missed, because he was just a lot of fun to be around. It was fun to watch him play football/basketball, you could tell when those kids were having fun. East really missed a great opportunity. A kid like that has the potential to make a significant step change in a program and East has the right people/community to help him, mold him into a strong man. I hate to say it but, I believe some in the East community were afraid this young man was going steal some of their kids thunder, and they was very little done for this young man.

North just took a big lost. Heard from my son today that there O-Line coach, Tyler Robbins is going to Elkin to coach. Robbins will be a big loss for North, we hate to see him leave.

True about Tarboro. Is that Robinnson kid the one from East Middle...If so..he def has varsity speed...Why did he leave EW...?

No one is winning a 1AA state title as long as Tarboro is 1AA.

Elkin will win the State Championship in two years. They have a really talented sophomore class this year that won the JV Conference Title as freshman last year, those sophomores will have step up and play at the varsity level this year. Also West Wilkes two best players transferd to Elkin. You will see a freshman Brennan Robbinson at RB, sophomores Bret Boone, and the Beaver twins is what makes them go.

East Wilkes will compete this year and next year as they have some soiled talent returning this season. Defenseive secondary will much improved from last season. They will also return a solid offensive and defensive line. They will complete for the conference title this season. But next two season East Wilkes will struggle every should enjoy beating them while they can because they will win Back to Back State Championships after the next two seasons.

The Elite 1aa teams are very competitive with any elite 2a team....case in point Wallace Rose Hill just went up from 1aa and in their 1st year beat Reidsville for the state championship. I respect WC..too bad they don't get respect against their peers in 2A outside of our conference. With that being said the local teams should be lucky to compete with WC..but i would say that in the early 2000's EW blazed central...Then West Wilkes Was very good...then WC hit their stride for a few years..with EW getting a few wins here and there...btw..may have been 05..EW was up on WC at halftime 46-0 and you guys had no one faster than Kevin Dobbins on the field.

I do understand fully what youre saying...but when Starmount was in 2a...they went deep in the playoffs year end and year out..The bad thing is Curls..is WC a cup cake for a 2a team?...Instead of talkin down 1a ball..just make sure that WC isnt considered a cup cake for 2a.

I don’t think you understand what I’m saying. At the 1a level there are only a handheld of elite teams in the playoffs. In 2a you can have a Shelby - Southpoint matchup in Round 1. Realitvley speaking 2a is more diverse and saturated with good teams. In 1a it’s cupcakes in round 1 and 2 for the most part. Especially at the small 1a level.

The only 2a team that the good 1a teams struggle with in the MVAC is WC. East and Starmount consistently beat the others on a regular bases. Come playoff time 1a schools play schools their size and compete well...that's exactly what WC should be doing as well..regardless of the outcomes of regular season games. WC usually gets a decent seed in the playoffs..but the get beat by lower seeded teams..when they shouldn't. Pisgah shoudn't beat WC last year.

I agree to disagree. WC schedules a decent non conferene schedule with Alexander Central and Watauga..but they don't really compete with them that well. Reidsville beats teams in their conference by 50 every game yet competes for state titles every year.

That’s very true. I think Central suffers from playing schools with less talent and schools that frankly aren’t very good. Central would fare better in the playoffs in a more competitive conference. That’s why the 1a teams fare better. They play 2a teams all season long and don’t have to play near as tough competition in the playoffs.

I wish all the county teams would do well...Wilkes County is looked at to be so inferior in Football...and our track record for success in the sport, especially during the playoffs supports it. So whether or not WC has more speed is really irrelevant. They do and should have more speed..but come playoff time when they are matched up with schools their own size..they falter pretty quick like the rest of the MVAC schools. Wish it weren't true..but we prove it to be too often.

Different teams i believe...i will agree that no one in the conference were faster than the ones you mentioned..but Chaston and the Johnson kid were on the 2014 team...you had no one faster than those guys on that 14 team..WC should be a faster team with faster guys individually due to demographics alone...just sayin.

Yeah we’re going to have to disagree. Trae Alexander was faster than Martin. Josh oliver and Derrell Canaday we’re both faster than Gaither. They proved it on the field and in track season. Both those players were very fast but Central had faster individual players. It didn’t equate to wins. I’ve been watching Central and area teams since the 80s.

And youre basing that on what. 3 yrs ago when Starmount was state runner up...WC had no one on that squad who could hold a candle speed wise to John Johnson from Starmount...You no one on that squad faster than Chaston Martin either..no one faster than Rashaun Gaither in 08 when they blazed yall by 40..come on dude...not even sure why im debating about WC..they are one and done in the playoffs like most others in our area....you also had no one faster than the Martin kid say 4yrs ago when N.Wilikes won the conference.

Starmount has never had a faster individual player than WC since they’ve been in the same conference from my obersavtions. They have had more team speed on certain years but even that was rare. They’ve only been in the same conference since mid 2000s.

There were several yrs that WC didnt have the team speed or individual speed that Starmount..please JerryCurls..get it together bruh...There were years in the conference where your team speed meant nothing...WC should win conf every year ...but they dont.
