Jerrycurls...youre forgetting that WC is a mediocre big 2a school. Just keeping real my G. They will still have a say so in the conf race..but for WC to be such a bigger school..their aspirations should be set higher than winning a split 1a/2a conference. Goes to show ya..the old cliche..never count ya chix before they hatch..or sunthin like that....LOL

Big game for East this week as they have Starmount. Winner could very likely be the top 1A team. Expect to be a thriller if Starmount stays consistent but if they are sloppy then East will get them as they are very opportunistic. Both have momentum East has had it longer though. JV wise Starmount will roll on them; they may have the best JV team in the conference this year them vs WC will be a good JV game.
2A wise I think WC will get it but Ashe is gonna be their first real challenge for the 2A spot in a few years. Since '15 no 2A team has challenged WC much but I see Ashe being a thorn the next few years. QB is great for them but their RB is their most underrated player. Only a 10th grader too; he will be a load in 2 more years. Same for that 10th grade class most talented Ashe class since the seniors off that 2014 team. They will be potentially very hard to handle in 2020.
I see EW, Ashe, and WC being the top 3. Starmount 4th, Elkin 5th, NW 6th, then whoever wins between West and Alleghany 7th.
Elkin fell off like I thought they would; they struggle vs the pass and until they get better against it Ashe and WC will have an upperhand. I was totally surprised they were shutout though. Gonna be a shutout between them and NW when they play. NW's defense is struggling like I thought they would they aren't good against spread teams. Chipman's doing a good job at QB though, West and Alleghany just aren't that flashy; Alleghany's defense isn't bad though.

Sportfan my picks are EW and WC as usual, But the Hudler QB at Ashe is very good. EW may have trouble with him. WC will not. WC defense getting real serious about things and are finally gotten heathier.

Well two weeks into Conference play- what wins and loses have been shockers and what's the opinion of everyone on who the last 2 standing will be? There are several that seem to be running neck and neck. Should get interesting!

22 Howell did run great last night. With him and Joraye in the backfield and Pack back on defense anchoring it down, this team will be hard to beat in conference. Pack plays smart and is very physical. He makes the defense solid.

How about that # 22 Howell last night? Pack did what he could to fill in for him and Joraye. But dude #22 grinds . I love his style. Runs a little violent. Now watch Joraye and him show off . They are the two best in the county together and if the coaches will use them the right way look out haters. Big 55 back too. I thought it looked like WC football for the first time this year and look forward to Friday.

You think Elkin or North will win conference even though both just lost their conference openers? Ashe and East Wilkes are very possible but to completely disregard WC as being able to win the conference and then suggesting North and Elkin is downright laughable.

Don't think Central or Ashe will win the conference but I will admit they have played the better competition so far this year ,,,,,,I also don't thimk Alleghany or starmount or West will win it either I think it will be Elkin ,East or North

I've talked to some of the other teams and they are experiencing some injuries as well ,,,,East ,North and Elkin have had their share of injuries too ,,,,,,Central will be just as healthy as the rest of these teams come conference play time ,,,,,,Ashe and Central have advantage with the enrollment numbers in the conference so their player level of talent should pull them through
