What’s the status of all the players WC has had out? 22, 5, 7, 6, 22, etc?

1A wise it looks tough to pick a favorite because all of them have serious flaws.

East's finally looking like how they should again after that horrendous opener. Week 2 showed how they can handle bad teams and week 3 showed how they could handle physical teams. Last Friday though they underperformed badly. Gotta quit turning the ball over for sure as it will kill them in their final 3 games. I think Ross will have a good season though on the ground and D should get better with time. North Wilkes game will show what they have. Chipman thinks they can play with East but if East's O is jamming I don't see it. D's gotta stop Chipman to win that one.

Elkin's the most physical they have been in a long time and got good line size. Their option QB's pretty good at the option stuff. Besides that they just didn't do it for me. Defensively they are awfully soft against the pass and they can't throw it long on offense. Get them down 2-3 TD's and play hard on D you will have them beat. Ashe and WC will eat them up on the pass unless they get better at it.

Starmount's very irregular and hard to predict. They have moments of brilliance like vs. MA, then they fall apart epically like vs. West Stokes, or they choke all together like vs. Forbush. They can't seem to stay consistent. Grinton's changed their style up and it's worked a bit but he needs to find how to make them more consistent or else they will be lucky to make the playoffs. JV may be the best in the conference but we will see in 2 weeks.

Alleghany is also like Starmount but I'm surprised with them. I wasn't expecting them to beat South Stokes like they did. If they play West Wilkes and Starmount like that they may make the playoffs. They don't have the talent to win the #1 seed but they can be one of the more annoying teams in the conference.

Favorite right now is probably Elkin but if East can play solidly hard on defense then it may be a thriller in Ronda near the end of the year for the #1 seed.

Ashe is gonna be the X factor this year in MVAC play. They are doing much better than I expected much earlier; I figured they would be good in 2019/20 but they have been a nice surprise. I could tell in June they would be better as they had a more tougher team spirit than they did last summer. Their defense has gotta stay consistent but they have the offense to put #'s on the board quite easy. They have true balance on offense even if they don't have the stud athletes.

WC's been a major disappointment but really it's good for the conference. It doesn't need to be the one team show year in and out. I don't know if i'd label their schedule the hardest; granted they had Alexander Central but Ashe had Watauga and Hibriten back to back; WC had Surry Central in between. I do think the winner of Ashe and WC will have a major say in how the conference goes.

As for North and West Wilkes neither team has the IT factor needed to beat the Huskies or Eagles. West is a lot like last year but maybe a little worse. If they can't beat Bishop then something's wrong there. They will get eat alive by WC and Ashe when they pass it on them. North Wilkes meanwhile is overrated. Their defense is pretty bad; they struggle bad vs. RPO plays so Ashe will have a nice night with that offense. Their D may be one of the worst he's had while coaching a winning record team. His son's a good QB but he isn't enough to beat one of the top teams. If NW couldn't put Bishop away then let South take a solid lead on them before that comeback then it might be a tough few weeks to start the conference season.

MVAC is not very good, but I will say if Ashe County runs the ball as well as they did in their last game, to put that with that passing attack, they're going to win the conference.

Not sure what Wilkes Central's issues are, heard a few kids being in trouble on and off the field hasn't helped their season. But if they get things straightened out, they'll be a good team by the end of the season.

I got there late. Morrison wasn’t playing. Clark and Williams haven’t played for a couple of weeks. And their other RB hasn’t played all year. Their 3rd string RB played tough last night.

Why were those players not there?

Really proud of the Eagles last night. They were neck in neck with Watauga last night until late in the 3rd. No morrison, no Clark, no Williams and many others and they hung tough for 3 quarters. Luckily things get much easier the remainder of the season. If they can just get healthy, this team will be very hard to beat in conference.

Elks will be fine. Just gotta cool their heels. MA has way too many big time ballers.

I still see y’all are sleeping on my Buckin Elks! Proved all those haters wrong in Toast last week and this week we’re gonna shut down those Granite Cubs. Move out the way! Buckin Elks are here to stay

Next two games will show what EW will have this year in their tank. Week 1 was horrendous but they were lights out last Friday. Question is can they be consistent or not? Forbush will be a great test for East's physicality this year. Forbush is very, very young but they played too meh teams tough, East can't overlook them. Walkertown's gonna be their first game where they face lights out speed in the skill spots. They will have to stop their running game to win as WT's RB is very good. After that it will be interesting to see as conference starts. They open with North Wilkes; Chipman from what I heard around the mill thinks NW can beat EW. But if NW's D is as lax as it has been the last two weeks it may be a high scoring game if EW keeps producing points.

WC meanwhile should win this week vs. a terrible Surry Central team but it may be tough for them. It was last year for a half; SC's much younger this year so WC should roll as they need the momentum.

Like I said East Surry is the best team in the area ...

JerryCurls79

Yep it’s the coaching for WC not the talent. Tapley and Compton made that offense run and now they can’t. Defense hasn’t been able to stop a runny nose since Funderburk was here. Get somebody in here that can prepare a team. You’re not going to be taken seriously losing to North Iredell and down 22-0 to Alexander Central before halftime.

MA def had more athletes than ES..they have a super athletic receiving corp and and athletic rbs/dbs. D1 and D2 athletes in the skill positions. Starmount, I heard was in so much better conditioning shape than MA. That means alot if a team can keep it close and make the other team grind it out for 4 quarters. ES is such a good team as well. The offense they're running is a great fit for their personnel strengths. EW made ES look amazingly excellent..ES was already good without EW help.

ES Should Best Starmount pretty Easy Friday night... Remember guys this Mt Airy Team is not the team that Made it to State last year ...Kids Graduate..... , And IMO EC is a better team than they were last year...

I still think that EW has a chance to beat Alleghany..NW..WW...and that should about do it...All those teams have a great chance to beat EW as well. EW is flat out awful.

The way that Starmount held their own against Mt.Airy..I don't know why anyone thinks they will beat Starmount. They in my opinion played against the best team or maybe EW did. No team in the MVAC would be within 2 tds of Mt.Airy or East Surry.
