Where's GTProbe been hiding? He backed out on our wager and can't help but notice he's not been on here talking about his Dookies.

I would classify Coach K more as the greatest "tournament" coach ever in the NCAA. He wasn't the innovator that guys like Dean Smith, Bobby Knight, Rupp, and John Wooden were. Those guys designed the game, K just tweaked their philosophies. That's not a cut to him.

Ginyard was a great defensive player for 1 1/2 seasons and did well filling in at pointguard as a sophomore/junior. I've watched him every year, and I'm telling you he has been overrated tremendously since his sophomore year. He has never been able to work around a screen. He hasn't shut anyone down since the first couple of years. He plays only for senior-loyalty from Roy. He has been a total goofball the past 2 seasons he's played. One of the worst ball-handlers in the ACC - if there was a stat for dribbling off feet, he would be the record holder. Roy rates him highly on defense now because of what he does in practice against inexperienced players on his own team. Watch replays of the past 2 seasons (that he played) and you will cringe every time you see him with the ball). The only props I'll give him this year is that he did a good job rebounding in some of the games. Ginyard was nothing but a momentum-killer this season, and UNC didn't have a lot of momentum to spare. He's a great guy in person, but like nice-guy Jake Delhomme with the Panthers, it's time for him to go.

I haven't cared about the NIT since the 70's really either. Back then, some teams actually chose to go to the NIT over the NCAA. Things have changed. I've watched most of each UNC NIT game this year, and at least they seem more competitive. Last night they stunk and got lucky. They should have had a huge lead at the half, but missed about as many layups as I've ever seen any team miss. It was tied at the half. Ugly, ugly game. I'll take the 20 wins and I'll watch the last game just to wave bye-bye to Ginyard. One of the worst players with the most playing time ever. I knew he would get confused at least once and pass it directly to the baby-blue-wearing Rhode Island team. He did. What an idiot.

WV is still without their starting guard (broken foot). Mazzula played well in the Regional Final to sub for him, but he will have to do even more against Dook. If WV allows Dook to get the offensive rebounds that Baylor allowed them to get, Dook wins. All Baylor had to do is get some rebounds and hit a few freethrows to finish that game out. Didn't happen and West Virginia almost blew it the same way against Kentucky at the end. Nolan Smith is far and above the player of the tournament so far. Good time to peak; that's the way it works on paper. Singler has been poor, but usually finds a way to contribute. The Dook big men have rebounded much better than I thought they could. I give them props, but now they need to go out there and lose please.

TarHeels have played ugly at times in the NIT, but I'll take any kind of win from them right now. I'll cheer win or lose on Thursday because it's the last game I ever have to watch Ginyard play at any level. I haven't been that impressed with Dayton in any of the games I've watched this season, but you never know which team could "out ugly" the other. 20 wins is a big accomplishment for that group.

like them or not they are on a roll.. IF they get by WV they have a great chance of winning it all (heaven forbid).. I think WV should have been a 1# seed anyways...

Thats true Hammer but it does look like the stars are aligned for Dook with all the other top teams losing. I'll be a West Virginia fan this weekend lol

I won't count out WV at all. I had them in the Final Four in my original bracket from the beginning. I just had a feeling that Kentucky's freshmen would underperform when it counted. West Virginia will have to do a better job finishing a game to beat Dook. They missed a ton of freethrows coming down the stretch against UK. Baylor beat Dook all over the court, but couldn't get it done when it counted late in the second half either. If the Nolan Smith Factor keeps at the level it has been lately, Dook's hard to beat. Teams have been focusing on Singler and Scheyer, only to get burned time after time by Smith. Dook's big men will have to keep getting those offensive rebounds also. That's the other thing that pushed them past Baylor in a huge way yesterday.

I think WEST VIRGINIA has the best team, but DUKE has the best coach. With that, i think DUKE will be more prepared for the game, which probally will lead them to a win. But, dont count WV out, they are a big and physical team. Gonna be a great game. Hide and watch

I don't care much at all for Dook, but I really respect the kind of ball Nolan Smith played this weekend. He single-handedly pulled them through some rough times against Purdue and Baylor. Both of those opponents had a 1-2 minute stretch of crappy play late that Smith killed them during. The charge call against Baylor on Zoubek was absolutely a terrible call that resulted in a 6-point swing, but Smith found a way and I won't attribute the result solely on that call. Couldn't understand why the Baylor coach settled for a half-court game the entire second half though. His inexperience showed. Dook could be cutting down the nets, unless Izzo finds a way to get his Michigan State team to the top.

Way to go Bluedevils! Baylor played very good basketball and dunked all over Duke, but it wasn't enough.

I think at this point, anybody can beat anybody in a single game. Only Cornell's inability to knock down some shots early in the first half kept them from challenging Kentucky. Kentucky can be beaten. I hate to say it but Dook is playing better than Kentucky and has as good a shot as anyone to get to the Final Four. If they get by Purdue tonight and Baylor beats Saint Mary's, I see Dook beating Baylor (unless Baylor finds themselves). Saint Mary's is a wild card in both games. If their guards continue to throw down some perimeter shots, that big man of theirs can dominate anyone in a single game. If Dook's 3 scorers stay effective together, they'll be tough to beat. Glad I'm not betting any money on the tournament this year. Happy to see the Big East suck it up.
