Abdelnaby?

I would have thought at least Greg "root'n toot'n" Newton.

Or Cherokee Parks.

Wake 86, Wake 73.

If I were like most of the Duke fans on this site (ok, all) I would decry Duke's loss with something like, "Wow, they sure do suck. Isn't a great team supposed to be able to shoot something besides 3 pointers on every possession?"

However, as I am not like the typical Wilkes Dookie (re: I've watched games that DIDN'T involve Duke this year...and realize there are 330+ other teams in America), I will point out that Wake has a young, hungry team that was looking for its first real "statement" win of the season, against a long time rival. The kids were playing for Skip, for Dino, and for the all that Wake basketball has become in the post-Scrotum era. The 3's weren't falling for the Dookies, Wake exerted pressure on Paulus (who still isn't a PG guys), and has a semblance of an inside game. And thus, Wake prevailed.

Duke has had a good run thus far, but as anyone with any lick of basketball sense will tell you, the formula they've used thus far this season is not one that has ever worked in March before. Sure, it MIGHT, strange things happen...but unless Lance Thomas suddenly becomes the second coming of, at LEAST, Alaa Abdelnaby...well, I think you guys saw into the future tonight. Sorry.

Chapel Hill ranks with Austin, Texas; Madison, Wisconsin, and Berkley, California as the most picturesque college towns in America.

Durham ranks with Detroit, Washington, DC, and Compton, CA for place where you are most likely to get a cap popped in yo'***z.

The best thing I ever saw was Chapel Hill in my rearview mirror...

Anyway...I gave Coach K my shout out as he was pumping up the Crazies at the game...I hollered at the TV and slapped my own floor...Scared hubby and woke the kids but well worth it for such a great man.

Obviously, anyone taking those rankings into account only went SOUTH of MLK, Jr. Boulevard. Those going NORTH of MLK, Jr. Blvd. (ie, 75% of Durham) would find a VERY inhospitable place.

Bud, have YOU ever been north of MLK, Jr. Blvd. in Durham? I have, and trust me, I've never been scared more crapless in my LIFE.

Here are a few facts about Durham N.C.

1. Durham ranked third safest city among North Carolina cities with at least 75,000 residents.

2. Duke (located in Durham) is the 13th best overall university in the world.

3. Durham is ranked in the top twenty best places in the nation to educate your child. (only one in N.C)

4. Durham is ranked #1 among MSAs for least excessive drinking and alcohol related problems.

5. In may of 2007 Durham was ranked the 15th best place to live in America.

6. It's the home of the Duke Blue Devils. (It's best asset)

I could go on but I'll stop there.

I hope you took a 5-gallon bucket to catch the overflow.

(I would mention the best time I've ever had in Durham, but generally speaking, I usually lock the doors, floor it, and pray to God a stray bullet doesn't hit me in the head. To call Durham the armpit of America would be far to kind. Imagine downtown Sarejevo, c. 1989)

I met Monty Towe and David Thompson in a RCA store the summer of '73. Mom still has the napkin they autographed for me...

But, me being a no-nothing about basketball stats, I thought it was Richard Pryor and Captain Kangaroo...

The best time I ever had in Chapel Hill was leaving it after a concert...

True. They all forget Laettner's stomp, Reggie Love's TeaBag party, K-Rat's "bad back", the fact that no team with NO inside presence has ever won the NCAA title, little nuggets like the 1974 Wolfpack is the best ACC team ever, the utter and complete ugliness of their cheerleaders (along with his recruiting efforts, the only GOOD thing that D'oh ever did was pointing this out). They also like to gloss over the cushy job given to Duhon's GED having mother, the cushier job given Boozer's dad, the thumb scan needed to get into K's office, the flopping, the national hatred of their 'holier than thou" attitudes.

They also seem to forget: Dean Smith OWNED K. And Carolina still leads the all time series by 30+ games.

Grrr You seem to be a bright guy so you should know that Dookie fans have very selective memories.

Bud, only a Dookie would consider those teams better than the 1974 State squad. Frankly, the 1982 UNC team was better than those Duke teams (Jordan, Worthy, Perkins, Jimmy Black, et al...please note the presence of TWO Hall of Famers on that team, and a 3rd player, Perkins, who was an All Star on several occassions with the Mavs). But, the gold standard for ACC basketball teams is almost UNIVERSALLY acknowledged as the 1974 NC State Wolfpack, followed very closely by the 1974 Maryland Terrapains.

Let me guess; you likely consider those Duke squads better than Alcindor's UCLA squads as well. That's what's wrong with Dookies; no objectivity whatsoever. Even as a Carolina fan, I have NO problem admitting that '74 State team would beat any Carolina team ever assembled; it would beat any ACC team EVER assembled. Crap, Bud, as a lapsed Woofie, you shoudl KNOW this.

(Aside here: There was a Duke-UNC game from '84 on today. Late in the 2nd half of a game UNC would go on to win in Double Overtime, Johnny Dawkins was guarding Michael Jordan. Both players had four fouls, and as Jordan was making a move down the right side line, Dawkins FLOPPED. I had thought this was a recent occurrence in Duke history, but apparently, it dates at least to '84.)

Actually the best "teams" ever were the 91, 92 squads from Duke.

Christian Laettner
Grant Hill
Thomas Hill
Bobby Hurley
Brian Davis
Antonio Lang

Just to name a few.
