One more thing, dougie45, and I give this to you freely!

"Envy is the mud that failure slings at success".

You would do well to remember this.

Miami is awful, they play with ZERO intellect. Haith is the only coach in the ACC that can make Fat Sid, aka the Kool-Aide Guy, look good. Lowe was jumping around after that game like he had won the National Championship.

Ulimately though, that win was ok with me. It will benefit Carolina's RPI. But State, without a legitimate point guard, is going nowhere. They'll be fighting it out for the scraps in the cellar of the ACC.

Dougie: I loved the UT-OSU game today, not to mention the BC beatdown of WFU on Tuesday night.

And tomorrow's FSU cake walk against the Slumpin' Deacons? A fine tune up for football.

A friendly reminder to one and all: The only team that has so much as made it to the tournament undefeated in the last 25 years+ is UNLV in 1991. The last team to make it through an ENTIRE season without a blemish was Indiana in 1976. No one in their right minds thought Carolina would make it through the ACC unscathed; now, PERHAPS, they will learn to play defense with passion for more than 8 minutes at a time. We'll see.

I guess the point I'm making is, whatever criticisms anyone would like to level aside, they've done enough to be 18-0.

The lack of consistent 3 point shooting aside, Carolina does SOMETIMES rest on defense, trying to "out athlete" other teams, as opposed to getting into a proper defensive stance and buckling down.

Unlike Duke, who gets into proper defensive stance and then...slashes like a hockey goon. To quote former UNC point guard, Ed Cota, when asked about the defensive prowess of Steve Wojohowski (sp?):

(While showing his arms, covered in whelts, to reporters): "He fouls; a lot".

Continue to say what you will, Dookies!

What they don't mention: Ga. Tech had won four in a row at GTech against Carolina, dating back to 2004. Notice how that didn't exactly derail the eventual championship in 2005, but its still nice to get that monkey off our back!

It's hard to go on the road and win in the ACC. I'm sure Dook, like UNC, get other teams' best efforts, and that's fine by me! If you want to be a championship caliber team, you wouldn't want it any other way!

UCLA? Please! Kevin Love is a SLUG! Howland's teams couldn't score 80 points. Kansas and Memphis? Legit. But Memphis is in a Candyland of a conference. Their reg. season record may be better than Carolina's come tournament time, but its doing them NO favors whatsoever come March. They'll bow out as usual in about the Sweet Sixteen. Kansas, I'm not so sure about. But I'm not so sure about Self as a coach, either. They, too, have a history of stinking it up in the tourney.

We'll see, huh? I'm glad to say its a great year to be a Carolina fan, and it certainly looks like it will be for several years to come. Just remember, the mark of a championship team is when they really don't play well, but find just enough to come out on top. It happened twice, with Clemson and Ga. Tech. Maybe once you could attribute it to luck, but twice? I doubt it! Notice how Quentin Thomas and Alex Stepheson contributed in the G.Tech game when Ellington and Green went AWOL. We will get what we need, and find a way...and when we play better competition, we will step up our game! It's called playing to the level of your competiton!

Every team that wins the National Championship "gets away with one". In 2005, that game was Villanova. This team is showing the ability to bend but not break, and while some less astute observers may discredit Carolina as having weaknesses, it gives me confidence to see us pull out the Clemson/Ga.Tech wins. Last year's team wouldn't have won these games.

Call it what you will, I call us 18-0, and the #1 ranked team in the NATION!

I think you'll see that the ACC, as always,is a tougher conference than most.Knowing this, will help you to understand why, almost any team you play in the ACC,will give you a run for your money, any given day.UNC is gonna take everyone's best shot, and in a conference like the ACC,thats tough.Maybe they blow out NC state one week, but win a close one to Gtech the next, that's how it normally is in the ACC.How many times has Florida State "stunned" Duke the last 5 years.Only bad thing that comes from a conference like ours,is that, there are good quality teams that get left out come tourny time.

In today's SI.com college basketball Mailbag, Grant Wahl picked neither UNC NOR UNJ-D as one of his "magic 8 ball teams", ie, teams that have a shot to win it all. However, he did say that he hoped he was wrong about Carolina, because their SID/athletic department/Coach Williams were "always open to the media".

Contrast that with K, who turned down an interview request by a small Pennsylvania paper, asking for comments about one of his former coaches at Navy, who was retiring. The same K whose office is (literally, I'm NOT making this up) a tower in the Duke basketball offices, that is accessibly only by elevator, and elevator that REQUIRES a thumb print scan to access.

Sounds like a swell guy, that K. Someone with whom you like to sit down and converse. That is, unless you are a sideline reporter, because he'll be the only coach in any sport (this includes the Hoodie) who deigns it beneath him to do so, and thus, leaves those responsibilities for the universally reviled (even by Dookies: see also the "NCAA Title Game, 1994) Chris Collins.

Wolfpack UNC is overrated? It's been less than a week since they drilled your Wolfpack by 30 You have to remember that it's not NC State playing. Everytime UNC takes the court they get the best a team has, so it's no big surprise for a team like GT to give them a run from time to time.
