You are giving the coaches too much credit in this case. I don't think the coach mattered much with the players UNC has this year. The seniors, Thompson and Ginyard, are about as bad as they come for leadership. Thompson disappears and Ginyard stinks. When the seniors aren't good, you look for court leadership from the point position. Well, Drew just doesn't have a lick of confidence or playmaking ability at this point. Many of the young players are having to play out of their natural positions this year also. Carolina has some good players, but they are the type of players that would normally be supporting players. There aren't any "step-up" guys. When they get some better playmakers and take charge athletes, Davis and Henson and Strickland and Drew and McDonald (etc) will be able to contribute more. There is just too much confusion and chaos on the floor for them now. They don't seem to be able to translate what they're taught to the floor. Practice is not as helpful this year as in the past because they are just playing against each other. In the past you had All-Americans going at it to learn from. Just no leadership. K has 3 scorers this year. Take one of them away and Duke struggles (it happened against UNC earlier this year). Duke's weak out of conference schedule (Wisconsin best team they played; the others have been totally inconsistent) and a weak ACC will hurt them the rest of the way. Best in the ACC ain't all that great this season.

Despite the disappointing season, nice to get win #2000 tonight and to do it in 7 fewer seasons than Kentucky and 11 fewer than what it's going to take Kansas. Plus Duke has played 3 more seasons than the Heels and aren't even close.

As much as we disagree I do somewhat agree with u on that to a degree. K does seem to get more out of his players especally on the defensive end. That doesn't make Roy a bad coach but i do think K motivates his team better. As far as some many Dook fans claiming that Roy always has better talent here is the recruiting class rankings of Dook and UNC over the last few years

I find it ridiculous to say that a coach is bad just b/c you dont like the team he coaches. To say Roy's a bad coach just b/c you dont like the Heels is simply stupid jut like if i said Coach K was bad just b/c i hate Dook. The records speak for themselves. They're both 2 of the winningest ever and in the Hall for a reason. GT You are right about Syracuse and Coach Boeheim. Roy and K neither one are the "game" coach that Boeheim is. He does more with less talent than either of them does. Aside from the year he had Carmelo he rarely has the best talent. Gary Williams is another one that does alot without some of the blue chip recruits that Duke,UNC,Kansas and others consistently get.
