After 40 years in the restaurant business, in both the quick service, canteen and catering arenas, our family decided to create a restaurant that focused on things we love, first and foremost, cousin Jeff's Hickory Smoked Pulled Pork Barbecue. Another was good homemade Ice Cream. So in October, 2002, the Smokehouse, as it has come to be known, opened for business in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. We'd love to have you visit! Or, if you'd prefer, we can bring the Smokehouse to you with our full range of Catering Services, with everything from Barbecue to Prime Rib, from 50 people to 1500.

I don't think the food is as good as it used to be. The prices have really gone up and the portion size is much smaller.

Terrible food, small portions, Service was horrible, we left hungry, will not go back, bad management, sucks

Mediocre food and small portions, especially on the sides. Chances are you'll leave hungry.

I only go for the BBQ and ice cream. The salad bar selection and layout sucks compared to Village Inn big time. Do not be tempted by their "specials" they are known for BBQ not the spaghetti. Trust me. I will be back but sticking to the regular.

Just had a 60th wedding ann. party here and we loved it. The staff was great, the serves and food was amazing. It was so easy all we did was show up and they did everything. All of our guest where happy with everything. And when they shut the doors to the party room it's like we had the rest. to ourselves. Thanks, to everyone there that made their special night more special.

Staff very nice but whomever makes the barbeque needs to go down east & learn how to season it. BBQ is not supposed to taste like pure vinegar. I couldn't even eat mine the vinegar was so strong. If all the people who eat there ever ate good BBQ would know what IMean! The chef needs to go down east & try of from other places & learn how to sreason it. It is not supposed to taste like it's pickled! We sure won't be eating it anymore. I'm from down that way & know what excellent BBQ taste like & it sure doesn't taste like it's been soaked in vinegar. And for those that say different unless you've eaten properly cooked BBQ from down east then you have no idea of how bad the restaurant's in Wilkes mess it up. Down 421 used to be a small BBQ joint that knew how to make it. Please go lean how to do it right from somewhere, it's a shame you ruin all that good pork!

My friend and I are on a 'cue tour of Wilkes. We have found that the Smokehouse has the best. The 'cue sandwiches were piled high with meat. The sauce was tart and tasty. The slaw tasted home made. The hushpuppies were only average, but good enough. Keep up the good work!

Good People and great food. And a big shout out to Jeff from the doc's and nurses at the Foothill Free Medical Clinic. Everyone loved the food.

Visitor; tried this place for the 1st time. Que was very good. Cooked over wood versus gas @ many other Que restaurants. For the $$$, portions were small, especially the sides. Ice Cream was excellent, as advertised with high butter fat content. Not too sugary, waffle cones added to the enjoyment. One suggestion, est. should offer HOMEMADE ONION RINGS... Would make great addition and terrific profit generator......

Love the Sunday buffet. And rgreene why did you go to a BBQ place and order Flounder? lol

Surprised how good the bbq was. Grew up near several good lexington style joints (lexington bbq, whispering pines, garys) and this was just as good. The sauce was peppery and had some bite to it. Wife got the ribs cooked in a similar sauce. Sides and ice cream good as well. Service was decent, maybe a little on the slow side. We will go back!

Not bad...

Best banana splits in town!!!

luv there food n ice cream....

The chicken taste like stewed chicken..due to the cut back on the chips to product the flavor..even the girl at the cash register..comment ..this was what the customers were stating ! Other things on the menu are ok !

I love this place.

Ate there twice. Portions are small compared to prices. No desire to return.

Everybody loves this place — they also have a lot of class reunions that I have photographed here! They are great!

I have eaten there several times hoping it would get better but I am always left disappointed. Chicken pieces as very small and the BBQ does not have much flavor. Too many other places to go. I decided not to return.

i love their bbq.... and the creamery is to die for... i love all the ice ream and kids under 4 eat free and get a free ice cream. i havent tried their new place in millers creek but i will soon!

Excellent all the way around. Always a good meal.

I love their corn nuggets...they are awesome!!!

My husband ordered the flounder had to chase it around his plate to cut it. Not to impressed. Will spend our money elsewhere.

8/12/11 ; My family and I had dinner there last night and I will say that the whole shabang was terrible!!!We will never eat there again!Appitizers are suppose to come before the meal, aren't they? When you get your order it is suppose to be hot isn't it?Oh,yeah and isn't sweet tea suppose to be sweet? We were eating or trying to when my daughter happen to look up at the wall near her head and there was ketchsup smeared on the wall. Now,I ask you HOW CAN THAT BE MISSED!?We got up and got out of there.Just thinking about the food and laziness of the waitress makes me ill.!!!
