2 cups self rising flour,3 eggs(beaten),2 tablespoons sugar, Add Milk until batter is pourable (not to thin; not to thick)While mixing ingredients preheat iron skillet(add 1/4 cup butter(or canola oil) in skillet while heating) in oven on 425.Using oven mitt remove skillet and pour mixture into pan replace back in oven and bake for about 20-25 min, or until golden brown on top.Pinch off and enjoy! This is my grandmothers recipe and it always tasted great with sausage gravy and scrambled eggs on Sunday morning! Or just homemade jelly and butter!....<.MELTS IN YOUR MOUTH>

I agree with 1goddess, White Lilly is the best flour but I have gotten lazy in my old age. Try Southern biscuit "Formula L" biscuit mix. Recipe is on the bag.

go with the White Lily Self Rising flour...1 1/2 cups flour...all I do is mix about a 1/3 cup of Crisco oil...use a pastry cutter to cut it into the flour...then add milk...and I use fat free milk...till the consistancy is a little thicker than pancake mix....now this is just for the hoe cake...
if you are making biscuits...1/3 cup of Crisco oil...cut into 1 /1/2 cups of flour...then start adding your milk a little at a time...till all flour is wet...if the dough feels stiff..then add a little more...you don't want it too wet either...but you do it strictly by pratice and feel ...when you feel like you can turn the dough onto a floured surface and press about 1 inch thick...then cut out your biscuits or roll them in your hand if you wish..then place into a greased baking pan with sides...then into a 450 preheated oven...for about 10-12 minutes.

preheat oven to 450
While mixing my biscuit dough...I put about a tablespoon of bacon grease or vegetable shortening into an iron skillet...set it on the stove top...turn the burner on the highside of medium high...
get the skillet hot...turn off burner...pour biscuit dough into hot skillet...let simmer like that for a minute..
then place into preheated oven....it kinda crisp up the bottom of the hoe cake...
and you can usually just flip out the whole hoe cake onto a plate when done.
top with butter

If you are making hoe cake then make your biscuit dough as normal, pat out into a large, flat piece (like an over-sized biscuit), place in a large pan, i.e., cake pan or black skillet, and bake as you would biscuits. If you want it brown then brush top with margarine or condensed milk.

explain what you want. Whole cake? are you referring to a pan of bread using biscuit dough, as in hoe cake?
