Bushman, while we're talkin' about coffee, it's a critical ingredient in one of the best recipes to come out of the South....RED-EYE GRAVY!

Fry up some country ham, scramble some eggs, fix a batch of grits, and pour the red-eye gravy over everything (including biscuits). YUM! And of course it's good for supper!

Nutboy ,

Wow you brought back some memories.granny had a big Coffee pot and she would put 2 tea cups of Standard coffee and a spoon of salt,1 gallon of water and boil .When it boiled out of the spout she would turn it to simmer and say 1 minute till Coffee is done(had to let the grounds settle down.)

It was Black and strong but it was great ,I added a spoon of sugar and shot of condensed milk to mine.

Dinker, I think that sounds wonderful!

I'm going to try to convince my wife that this weekend we should have her casserole with mashed potatoes, hamburger, and cheese. REALLY good. Or maybe homemade spaghet Orti and meat sauce! Or grilled pork chops and corn-on-the-cob, with baked potato, oozing with butter.

D##N, now I can't think about anything but food!

I Put a pot of stew beef on, been cooking it all day with some wine added for flavor, just added some potatoes, onions, carrots and celery to it. Fried a pan of sweet potatoes, corn bread, crower peas, and just waiting till the stew finishes. Made a half gallon of homemade lemonade this morning to go with it.

Chinese...probably pork with mushrooms, and Lo Mein noodles from China Wok. Pretty tasty!

Good suggestions Nut, I keep drippings in an old Hickory Farms stoneware crock in the fridge just for that reason.

And I have my granny's cast iron skillets and corn pone pan. Talk about something good to cook in!
