I know we would not have anything here at my house to eat either if we eat more then 1 meal a day here but we don;t. We even when we had a lot of food never would eat breakfast or lunch. We have always just had supper.I also don;t have any small kids my daughter is 24 and my husband hes like me he only eats supper to He is not a big eater I do try to keep something here for my daughter to have threw the day thow if she does want to eat like stuff to make a sandwich out of or she loves those little old packs of noodles. I can;t think of the name of them but they are pretty cheap and you just cook them in hot water and add the little season pack that comes with it. YUK I don;t like them but she does

Firefly, you want grandma's cooking again? Then buy a large chunk of fatback....save all of your grease dripping's and collect them into an old tin lard bucket....purchase an old antique coffee pot without the guts in it.(should hold about 2 gallons of water)
Fry up the fatback for breakfast....save the drippin's in the lard bucket (which BTW will be a combination of everything that has ever been fried..chicken, beef, pork, etc.) for the big ole pot of fresh picked and strung green beans, pinto's, squash, etc., etc. that needs to be seasoned. As for the coffee pot...rinse it, not wash it, out every Sunday morning. Fill it with fresh grinds (preferably Louisan w'chicory)...throw in a couple of eggshells, couple teaspoons of salt and about 2 quarts of water. Boil until it is black and very HOT. Enjoy with your meals each day. As the week progresses, add more grounds and water daily as needed and continue to boil. On Saturday night, use what's left for molasses or feed to the hogs...your choice! :)
That, my friend will get you as close as you can get to grandma''s cooking with out the raising of the dead!
PS....having a good old cast iron stove wouldn't hurt either.
PS#2....the drippins are good to heat up and use them with any left over biscuits or fried johnnycake.

I feel ya there Tenn. I have to live week to week pay check to pay check at the moment im the only one in my family that is working so food is not something we have alot of. I dont buy junk food anymore i plan all my meals from week to week so i can make sure we can afford to have meals each night.
Times are hard for alot and i mean alot of people everyone just has to learn to live off the land start making things from scratch again. You know the good home cooked food like our grandma's use to do:)
I would give anythign if my grandma was still living and could eat her cooking again...Its hard to find food like that anymore. I plan on learning how to can this summer. Stock up for the winter:(
