Hi Crazy!
A lady I know made a gumbo last year at a Christmas party. It was so good. I asked her for the recipe and made it. Mine was not as good, nowhere near as good really. LOL! I couldn't find the liquid crab boil anywhere. I found some powdered at Lowes but it was not the same. So if you do try this and it turns out great, please let me know exactly what brands and names you used and where you found the stuff. Trust me, this is great if it turns out like her's did.
The long awaited recipe for gumbo is finally on its way to you. I sure am glad that you did not hold your breath. This recipe makes about 2 gallons gumbo:
2 bags of med. shrimp 2 pkgs. imitation crab meat 1 bag cut okra (optional) 1/2 bags mixed vegetables
The above items can be purchased in the frozen food department and the seafood section.
2 16oz cans tomatoes diced 2 reg. size cans of tomato sauce salt to taste cayenne pepper to taste creole (cajun) seasoning till hot enough for your taste 2 tablespoons Liquid Crab Boil 2 reg. size cans of chicken broth 2 green pepprs chopped fine 1 large onion chopped fine sprinkle garlic powder to taste
Cooking Directions:
In a skillet brown 1/3 cup of flour, add the green peppers and onions to gravy. You can put in a large pot the tomatoes, tomato sauce, vegetables, and all other ingredients leaving the shrimp and crab meat until last.
Hope this will turn out perfect for you. ENJOY! ENJOY! ENJOY!
