TOMATO JAM???

i will dig out a recipe i have used in the past. it's for green tomato mincemeat. it sounds like some of you are not too keen on "sweet" tomato stuff but it's excellent for making tarts or pies. also the perfect way to use up those end of the season tomatoes that will never ripen. put in canning jars and run thru a water bath and its perfect for using in the winter months.

My Grand-Mother made this almost every year. We called it Tomato-Butter. Much like Apple Butter. My wife makes it with just tomatoes , sugar, cinnamon and cook it down. It takes a while for it to cook down, and keep stirring it to keep it from scorching .Some people think it tastes like Molasses. Ive always liked it, but its not for everybody. Ive never bought any that tasted anything like homemade. Its worth a try for sure

As crazy as I am about anything Tomato, I believe I'll pass on this one. The first post brought back memories of when a great-aunt made scalloped tomatoes. YUCK!

sampled some of grannyfelts tomato jam...Delicious...it tasted alot like sorghum molasses...with just a little tomato twang to it...from what I can remember they used nothing but tomatoes and sugar...put it in a crock pot and let it cook itself down to the consistancy of jam then put it in hot jars...

Has anyone ever made this? If so, how is it? Found a recipe and thinking about trying it. Got more maters than we can eat in a month of Sundays. Tks
