here's some sales for this week. these are 3 flyers i checked for BOGO only. i have noticed that every store has some really good buys on baking ingredients. just a note for anyone that might be baking cookies next month.

anyone on a tight budget can find some foods below to last a week and not be hungry. buy a couple of extra items and put them storage.

Food Lion
Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 General mills cereal
Swanson broth
Campbells gravy
Birdseye vegetables
Stove top stuffing
Food lion shrimp
Steakum sandwich steaks
Bottom round, top round, sirloin tip roast
worth noting - Chicken leg quarters .78

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Lowes
French bread
Kaiser rolls
Thomas English muffins
Duncan hines brownie mix
worth noting - Oatmeal 2/$4

Ingles - this store has some super buys and well worth checking out their online flyer. bushman mentioned them last week and i can see why.

Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 Chicken broth
Flour
Pompeii olive oil
Pound cake

from the above items, i can think of several meals i would make for a family. maybe a nice pot roast dinner with veggies and rolls on the side. some fake pizza with the english muffins. i would buy that oatmeal and make a ton of granola as well as some oatmeal cookies. the chicken quarters would make great chicken cacciatore. i would buy the shrimp and put it away til next month for christmas.

They are not paying the higher rent that the stores do..You cant get everything at the cattle sale but why not save what you can?It doesnt take that long to go by..Most of the produce is as fresh or fresher than the stores...

wonderful stress. if ya can't give as much as people need, at least we might be able to help them help themselves.

ok so after food lion ... stop by lowes if there is still some money left

Lowe's - BOGO
thomas bagels
ocean spray juices
pillsbury brownie mix
carolina pride franks
zatarains rice mix
dole romaine 3 pack
lowe's bath tissue
lowe's freezer bags

carrots 2 lb pack .99

with the above items i would have bagels for breakfast along with some ocean spray juice
i would probably add the pillsbury brownie mix to my storage for another time
carolina franks would be cut up for beanie weenies or eaten with the rice mix
romaine would be my fresh veggie for a week or as long as it lasted,
bath tissue and freezer bags would be added to my storage items
carrots i would probably save in the frig for the upcoming holiday meal, carrots store long term

stress started an interesting thread over at the community voice section. i hope i keep up with this and certainly hope it helps some folks out. i am not as good a cook as some i see here, but this is for those with very small budget and mouths to feed.

i thought i would check a couple of weekly flyers, check for what's on sale, and offer a suggestion to others on how to take advantage and save some money perhaps we can help out some of the members here with better choices..

Food Lion - BOGO items on sale

food lion chicken tenders
green giant vegetables (canned and frozen)
delmonte pineapple
mt olive pickles
philly beef steaks
duncan hines cake/brownies
duncan hines frosting

items worth noting
russet potatoes 2.99 for 10 pounds
ham in all forms seems to be on sale as well

with the above items i would make:

a huge pot of soup with the chicken and canned veggies, include some of the potatoes on sale
fried ham and home fries
pineapple upside down cake with the mixes on sale
some ham salad with the pickles
chop up the steaks and chop some potatoes for home made hash

its not glamorous but sure would get some people thru a bad week.
