Sweet Southern Ice Tea

i use the tetley tea family size tea bags. i put 4 bags in water and let it start boiling real good then i remove it from the heat. i like to let my tea bags stay in the water about 10 minutes before removing them. i use 2 cups of dixie crystals sugar and mix it with the hot water then add some ice cubes to help cool it down a little. after you have all that stirred up and your ice has melted, fill up the rest of the container with cold water. this makes a gallon.

try the lipton cold brew, 4 bags make 1 gallon add about 2 & 1/2 cups sugar, but to me the secret to a very good glass of sweet tea is the brand of sugar, I only use dixie crystal, I have tried other brands & I just like dixie crystal the best, in my opinion it makes it taste better also it tastes fresher longer, it doesn't get that old funny taste the next day or the next if it last that long, which around my house it doesn't.

I use the Mr. Coffee Iced tea pot, use 3 family size tea bags, and 2 cups of sugar. That's pretty much all I drink. Sweet tea around here isn't really sweet. I am originally from Mississippi, where we like just a little tea with our sugar.....lol

Have never had good success making tea...so what do I do? Go to Lowe's Foods and buy in gallon jugs-around $1.40--and it is GOOD! Just thought I'd pass this along to others who are not happy making it!

cletis has got it right... i do the same cept start with 2qt pot water 2 cups sugar, boil to dissolve, then i boil 4 luzianne family tea bags for bout one minute to get stronger tea then let steep for bout 15-20 minutes, pour in gallon jug fill with cold water - fridge.. luzianne makes best tea - lipton is bitter in my opinion. if u let bags boil too long they bust apart and u hav tea leafs in water, yuk!!!

a good tip for making tea is after you make it let it sit out and coll down at room temp for putting it in the ref, it will keep the tea from the bitter taste.

I use Luzianne family sized bags (decaf for me). I put 3 in a teapot on top of the stove till it boils, then turn it off and let steap for about 5 mins. Then I use about 1 1/2 cups of splenda/sugar or equivalent of equal sweetener. It's pretty sweet, but that's the way my husband likes it.

Try the Lipton's Cold Brew tea bags. I take 4 tea bags and a cup of sugar for a gallon of tea. I run a little hot water to disolve the sugar then fill the rest way with cold water. Let seep for 15 min. and your ready to go.

I make my tea in a coffee pot, three family size bags per gallon. Brew and then add a cup of sugar. NOt too sweet but good.

Boil 2 quarts of water. After it comes to a rolling boil, remove from heat and add 6 family -sized tea bags (I use Pickwick Brand, an english tea, if I have it. If not, Luzianne. Never Lipton! I think it's bitter.). Cover the pot and allow to steep for TEN minutes. Uncover and add 2 to 2 1/4 cups of sugar. Pour into a gallon pitcher and fill with cold tap water, roughly another two quarts of water. Or, use a combination of ice and water to cool the tea more quickly.

That's the way I always make my tea. It's strong and sweet. I would add a cheesy joke about it being like my man but I'm not that sickening! 8)

add to my tea recipe the following. Make the first batch as directed. Adjust sugar as to taste after first brewing.

I don't know why this info dropped off the prior instructions.

good luck!

I've made thoudands of gallons for my restaurant customers. They love it. I've modified the recipe for home consumption and it is just perfect.

Only use Luzianne tea. I use 1 quart family bags.

Put 1 level cup of sugar in stainless steel pot. Add about 1 quart of cold tap water (must be cold water or tea will be bitter.)

Place on burner and bring to rolling boil. This disolves the sugar and gets the water ready for the tea. Place 2 tea bags in boiling water and turn off. Remove the tea infusion from the burner at once and let steep for 7 to 10 minutes. I personally like to leave it steeping for 10 minutes.

Pour into container and add cold tap water to 2 quart level. Stir. Let cool down. Pour over ice and enjoy.

To double receipt, double ingredients.

This tea is extra sweet
