Grape Jelly ? You definitely have lost your mind. There never was any jelly in the sauce , maybe 5lbs of sugar , but no jelly I can assure you.

1lbsugar.... then add another 1lb sugar and after you put a squirt of ketchup in the pot follow that up with a 5lb bag of sugar to sweeten it up. Warning if this sauce is too sweet kindly remove 1/2 teaspoon of sugar and substitute in 1 gallon corn syrup!

Try this for your marinara. Make it in the crock pot. (Recipe is modified from one I have,. Don't know the source)
Slow Cooker Marinara Sauce
Add the following to slow cooker and cook on high for 6 hours. I like to take the cover off during the last hour to help thicken the sauce :
1 large sweet onion, chopped 4 (14 ½ ounce) cans Italian-style tomatoes – chopped and undrained 1 (15 ounce) can tomato sauce 1 (12 ounce) can tomato paste 3 teaspoons dried basil 3 teaspoons dried oregano 1 teaspoon garlic powder 1/2 cup finely diced celery 1/2 cup finely diced bell pepper 1 teaspoon salt 2 tbsp Italian Seasoning (You may want to add a little more, to taste)
This will make the equivalent of about four jars of marinara sauce. Extra sauce can be placed in jars and stored in the refrigerator or canned. If not canned or frozen then use sauce within two weeks.
As with all my recipes, unless otherwise noted, adjust seasoning/spices to suit your taste. If sauce is too piquant for your taste then just add, by teaspoonful, white sugar (stirred well.)
