I have made many homemade pound cakes over the years. This is the best ever! It is soooo moist and tasty! Please give it a try.

Sundrop Pound Cake

1 c. butter, softened
1/2 c. shortening
3 c. sugar
5 eggs, at room temperature
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. lemon extract
3 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 c. Sundrop soda

Beat butter, shortening and sugar in a large mixing bowl until creamy. Add eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla and lemon flavorings. Gradually add the mixture of the sifted flour,baking powder and salt; mix well. Stir in 3/4 cup Sundrop soda. Pour into a greased and floured bunt or tube pan. Bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour or until cake tests done.

GLAZE ICING:

1 Tablespoon butter, softened
1 c. confectioners' sugar
2 Tablespoons Sundrop soda

Combine butter, confectioners' sugar and Sundrop soda in a small bowl and mix until creamy. Invert the cake onto a serving plate. Spoon the mixture over the hot cake.
