Strawberry Shortcake

I usually make a yellow cake according to the directions on the box, but I add a small package of instant vanilla pudding mix. Buy a bag of unsweetened strawberries and let them thaw in a bowl... this creates juice. Mix sugar in the strawberries to taste. Poke holes in the baked cake and pour the strawberries & juice over it. Top with whipped cream. YUM! My husband loves it.

I just bake biscuits, slice them in 1/2, and cover them with sweetened strawberries and whipped cream.

Easy Strawberry Shortcake

1 1/3 cups original Bisquick baking mix
1/2 cup milk
3 Tablespoons sugar
3 tablespoons butter or margine, melted
sweetened slice strawberries
whipped toppping or whipped cream.

Heat oven to 425. Stir Bisquick mix, milk, sugar and butter until soft dought forms. Drop by 6 spoonfulls onto ungreased cookie sheet. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until golden brown. Split warm shortcakes, fill and top with strawberries and whipped cream. (Sweetened strawberries before making shortcakes so sugar has time to dissolve; for each quart of sliced strawberries, stir in 1/2 cup of sugar.)
