Proudnana. Granny always told me Stew Beef has no vegetables and Beef Stew has vegetables. We would allways have stew beef and biscuits to sop up the beef grease with .Good eating but not a heart healthy diet.

put in crock pot and cook all day. I ad salt and pepper and sometimes onions and carrots.

An easy recipe:
Cut a beef roast (I use chuck) into smaller pieces. Place in crock pot and pour on a can of stewed tomatoes and an envelope of beef stew seasoning. The tomatoes and seasoning make a good gravy and if you cook it on low for most of the day it stays really tender.

COUNTRY STYLE STEW BEEF Cut 2 pounds beef(chuck steaks are great) into bite size pieces. Roll in flour and brown beef in a small amount of oil in the bottom of a four quart heavy pot. When beef is browned on all sides, add 1 1/2 quarts of water and a pinch of salt. Reduce heat, cover pot, and let simmer for hours, until the meat is so tender it falls to pieces. Serve meat and broth (without thickening the broth) by spooning it over bread. Traditionally, the bread used is pone bread broken into chunks. Pone bread is like a giant biscuit as big as a dinner plate Sometimes called a wholecake.

How do you fix this and the gravy that goes with it? Jack's used to have some good stew beef when they were open.
