slice squash and onions and put in glass casserole dish, add a little water, cover with lid and microwave until just barely cooked, but not mushy

drain

in a separate bowl, mix squash and onions together with cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup, shredded cheddar cheese, and black pepper

put back in microwave dish and put a layer of stove top stuffing on top

cover with lid and bake in 350 degree oven for about 20 minutes
