re: frozen vegs. Lowes has a great bag of frozen vegs for soup that inckludes okra. Not enough but a can of Margaret Holmes okra and tomatoes added to frozen is grrreatt!

Potato Soup with Dumplings 3 tbsp butter or margarine 1 onion, diced 1/2 cup diced carrot 1/2 cup diced celery 1 clove garlic, minced 4 cups diced potato 4 cups chicken stock 1 tsp salt 1/4 tsp pepper 1 tsp parsley flakes 2 cups milk Melt butter. Add onion, carrot, celery & garlic. Cook until onion is clear. Add potato, chicken stock, salt, pepper & parsley. Bring to Boil. Simmer until vegetables are cooked, stirring occasionally. Add dumplings.(recipe below) Cut into lengths of about 3 inches. Place in gently boiling soup and boil for 10 minutes. Add milk and and reduce to prevent boiling. Simmer for 5 more minutes. Potato Dumplings 2 eggs 1 cup water 1 cup Potato Flakes 3/4 cups flour Salt Mix together eggs, water, and potato flakes; let stand for 10 minutes. Mix in flour and salt; turn out as you would bread; knead for a few minutes. Roll out in ropes, about the diameter of a half dollar. Cut into lengths of about 3 inches. Place in gently boiling soup and boil for 10 minutes.

Kelly you can use them and it will work great .Just brown burger add tomatos and froze veggies and onions.

Turtle Soup 2 c. boiled fresh turtle meat 2 lb. beef bones 2 carrots 2 onions 2 T. butter 3 T. flour 2 qts. beef stock or water 1 small can tomatoes 1 small can tomatoe puree salt and pepper whole cloves 1/2 cup grape wine, if desired 1 lemon 2 hard cooked eggs Roast bones and vegetables with butter until brown. Add flour and brown again. Add water or beef stock, tomatoes and tomatoe puree, salt, black pepper to taste and a few whole cloves. Boil 2 hours, add grape wine. Strain soup through cheesecloth. Then add boiled fresh turtle meat cut in small squares, lemon and eggs cut up. Boil up quickly an serve.

Yes we use home frozen all the time .In thesummer I freeze some just for soup.

Bushman, could you use the frozen 1 or 2 pound bags of mixed vegetables instead of the canned corn and canned green beans?

Vegetable Beef Soup 1 stalk celery,chopped 1/2 cup chopped onion 5 medium potatoes, peeled and cubed 3 to 4 carrots, sliced 1 can whole kernel corn, drained 1 can green beans, drained 1 can diced tomatoes 1 can tomato soup 1 can mushrooms 1 small can tomato paste 1 1/2 lbs. ground chuck, browned and drained (or ham cubes or leftover diced pork or beef roast) salt and pepper 4 cups water Put everything in large slow cooker and cook on high for 6 hours or on low for 8 to 10 hours. Note: Some pots are 6 quarts, so you may have to reduce this recipe if you have a smaller pot.
