This is good. Add one packet Italian dressing mix, one packet of ranch dip mix and one packet of brown gravy mix and 2 cups of water. I cook my roast in a crock pot for about 6 or so hours, then I add my veggies and cook a couple of hours more. I have also fixed the roast with the lipton onion soup mix and a 12 oz can of coke. That is very good also.

I add the roast to crock pot then put in one envelope of onion soup mix and one can of cola or diet cola. Later on in the day I add the vegetables.

I sear chicken, steak, and flank steak. I have never seared my pot-roast because I don't like that particular meat to have crusty edges..

I like to use Liptons Beefy Onion mix and a couple of packets of Au Jus gravy mix.

Beat it with a mop handle. Make it tender.

Dredge with flour, s&p, and brown it on every surface first. That's how momma taught me, using a chuck roast.

That's what I was thinking, Chendo. I always sear mine.

Doesn't anybody sear their roast before crocking it?..otherwise you are just boiling it

I cook my pot roasts in crock pot for 3 hours at 325 degrees. I put the roast in the pan and salt/pepper the top. I add water until it's halfway up the roast. It's usually pretty good to add an onion at this point. At one hour left I add potatoes and carrots. Temperature and the amount of water really makes a difference. Too little water or temperature too high and it may turn out dry. If you notice your pot is getting low on water, added some and turn down the temperature.

I have done the Lipton Onion Soup packet and that works....Really adding seasoning or leaving it plain is personal preference.

Put a few dashes of liquid smoke (in grocery store aisle with A1, BBQ sauces, etc.) all over the outside of the roast. Then salt, pepper, garlic powder on all sides. Put in crock pot with a small bag of the baby carrots, one small onion cut into small chunks and a small amount of water...only about 1/2 cup and cook on low 8 to 10 hours or 1/2 that long on high (or until fork tender). Remove meat and stir 2 packets of Sauers brown gravy mix into the juices that cooked out of the roast. Stir with whisk occasionally until thickened, pour over roast.

Go easy on the liquid smoke. A little bit goes a long ways. Best way we have found for crock pot roast. The meat will melt in your mouth.

Now I'm hungry!

I think the roast tast better cooked in a oven than a crock pot>

I typically cook mine on low from frozen. I typically cook it overnight and add the onions, carrots, taters and whatever else needs to make it AWESOME!
