There is a variety of bush bean called "Derby" that is stringless. I grew them last year and I was impressed. They were prolific in production of beans in excess of 8 inches long. They freeze very well and are excellent for canning. They retain their bright green color when cooking and have a firm texture. (Not mushy like other cultivars of green beans.) As far as cooking them, I like to use ham hocks, ham pieces or ham centers for seasoning. Delicious!

TDTMD. fresh picked, cleaned and canned in a pressure cooker are wonderful, go to the basement, grab a can, pop em open and cook them slow, OMG how good.

Crypt, if he doesn't stop leaving wet towels on the floor, he may just have a few more days left!!
And Happytrees, I am not a huge fan of green beans, but I will eat them IF they are fresh. I won't touch the ones out of a can!

That is one fine looking supper. Pass the garlic bread and a glass of cold milk. I won't be as jealous if I know you two are newly weds.
