Fresh Pear Bread

2 pears - peeled, cored and shredded
1 pear - peeled, cored and mashed
1 egg, lightly beaten
1 egg white, lightly beaten
2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup white sugar
1/4 cup instant vanilla pudding mix
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon baking powder

Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). Lightly grease a 5x9 inch
loaf pan.

In a bowl, mix the shredded pears, mashed pear, egg, egg white, water,
and vanilla. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, sugar, pudding mix,
cinnamon, baking soda, salt, and baking powder. Stir the pear mixture
into the flour mixture just until moistened. Transfer to the prepared
loaf pan.

Bake 1 hour in the preheated oven, or until a knife inserted in the
center comes out clean.

I forgot to say to dice or grind the pears, peppers, onions, & hot peppers. It is up to you which you prefer.

Pear Relish

1 peck pears = 2 gallons

8 sweet peppers (4 green, 4 red)

6 medium onions

3 hot peppers

add:

1 TBS. salt

1 TBS. celery seed

1 TBS. turmeric

2 pounds sugar

1 qt. vinegar

Boil 20 minutes. Put in jars while hot put on lids and let seal.

I need a recipe for canning Pickled pears. I tried one last year that some one gave me an it was
to much vinegar taste. Maybe a sweet spiced pickled pear?
Any help appreciated.

Canned Pears

2-3 lbs pears per QT
Sugar
Water

Wash and drain pears. Cut in half.core and peel. Cook pears one layer at a time in syrup until hot through out. Pack pears into jars leaving 1/2 inch headspace. Ladel syrup over pears. Place hot lids and rings on jars. Process pints 20 minutes and quarts for 25 minutes in water bath canner.

well i dont like them so i gave them to my inlaws.they do.at the moment i am overrun with bell peppers. so i am freezing them. so thery wont go bad. hopefully next year i will be able to do more with them. i will plan more ahead. lol

I use fresh pears for Pear Butter. Sure is good on toast or hot biscuits! I'll hunt down my recipe and post it.

I have a pear tree full of pears and someone told me to pick some off the tree and cover in newspaper,put in a dry place and let them ripen.Said i could do this with apples too.I am going to try it.

Microwave Pears

4 Pears
For every 2 or 3 pears
2 dried apricots-chopped in food processor
4 teaspoons of orange marmalade
1 cup of apple juice
tools:
microwave
microwave safe dish-we use a glass baking dish
melon baller
food processor
spoon
Mix the marmalade and the apricots in the food processor
Cut pears in half lengthwise, if you are careful you can have
two halves of the stems still attached. Using a melon baller,
scoop out the seed section. Put mix in scooped out pear
Put in a microwave safe dish pour apple juice over pears
Microwave 10 minutes, they are hot so be careful removing.
Good hot or cold Any extra fruit mix can be put in the refrigerator
for another time. Lasts a long time.

Pears in red wine
4 medium pears, ripe
4 medium oranges, juiced
2 tablespoons lemon rind, grated
2 tablespoon orange rind, grated
1-2/3 cup red wine (such as Cabernet Sauvignon)
3 tablespoons honey
Bring water to a boil in a large pot. Add the pears
and cook for 15-20 seconds. Remove the pears from the
pot and immediately place in a bowl of ice water.
Remove the skin from the pears. Slice
the pears in half and remove the seeds.
Combine the juice of the oranges, the lemon and orange
rinds, the red wine, and the honey and bring to a simmer.
Add the pears, cover, and cook for 10-20 minutes, or until
the pears are tender. Serve each pear with the sauce.
Nutritional Information Per Serving (1/2 pear):
Calories: 250, Fat: 1 g, Cholesterol: 0 mg,
Sodium: 7 mg, Carbohydrate: 46 g, Protein: 2 g
Diabetic Exchanges: 1 Other Carbohydrate, 2 Fruit

I have alot of little hard green pears dont know what to do with them all. Has anyone ever dehydrated them?

Is it enough to make pear preserves? I've never made any before but I'd try if I had that many. Or you could make a pear pie (similar to a fresh apple pie) I bet that would be good too. Good luck and don't be afraid to experiment!

i have a bowl full of fresh picked pears. what can i do with them? freeze them? if so tell me how. i dont want them to go bad before i can use them.
