Peanut butter pinwheels

1 lb. box powdered sugar, sifted

1 stick margarine, melted (I use Parkay)

Jif creamy peanut butter

1 tsp. Milk, or a little more

Pour melted margarine over sifted powdered sugar in mixing bowl. Using your hands, mix together well. If it seems dry and will not stick together, add milk a little at a time until it’s smooth and well mixed. It should pull away from the bowl and your fingers. Divide into two balls and shape each into a log. Set aside one log. Place the first log on wax paper (about 18 inches of paper) and cover it with another sheet of wax paper. Using a rolling pin, roll out the log until it’s an oval shape, and not running off the paper. Lift off the top layer of wax paper. Gently spread peanut butter over the mixture, leaving about ¼ inch from edges. Using the bottom edge of the wax paper, gently roll the log upward, gently pressing on top of the waxed paper until you get to the end. Repeat steps with the other log. Keep rolled up in wax paper and chill for at least two hours on a cookie sheet. Unroll and slice with a smooth knife. Keep chilled in an airtight container which has been lined with wax paper.

Thanks, MHollowy. My mama made these every Christmas...this is our second Christmas without her. It's been sad, but your recipe brought a smile as I remember us trying to be the first to get some. Mama called it Martha Washington Candy, Whitehawk. Glad someone else calls it by the same name.

Does anyone know the name of the Christmas candy, that is peanutbutter, rolled up in some kind of powdered sugar concoction. It's rolled into a log and then cut down I think. My grandma used to make this, and I can't find a recipe, and am really hoping to make it this year.
