They main thing is to remember to NEVER move the peaches around after you have put the in the dish on top of the batter mixture of flour and sugar and milk. This will for some reason cause the "dough" not to come up through the peaches when it is baked. Just put them in as evenly as you can with out touching or moving them after they make contact with the batter mixture.
I however use a slightly different receipe:

1 cup self-rising flour
1/2 cup sugar
1 stick margarine
1 can sliced peaches.

Melt margarine in microwave. Directly in baking dish, combine flour and sugar...stir until well mixed (smooth). Now, pour melted butter onto batter mixture. Bring peaches to rolling boil, then spoon evenly over top of batter, carful not to move peaches once they make contact with the batter. Bake at 450 for 45 minutes or until golden on top.

lovebluegrass's receipe is the best i've been eating it for years its on the
back of southern biscuit flour or dixie lily dont remember which its called... no fool pie

My family loves the quick fruit pie that I bake. Bring fruit (if fresh) to a boil and add sugar, plus a touch of cinnamon. Place a Pet-Ritz pie crust in the bottom of a casserole dish, add fruit, top with another pie crust. Bake until crust is brown. Super fast.

Cottage house isn't the only place I have eaten that style of peach cobbler, I just figured that would be the easiest way to describe it. I love me some cobbler lol

I use cinnamon too sugarpye. Besides the sugar in the batter I put a half cup of sugar in a bowl and mix my cinnamon with it and then put the peaches in the cinnamon sugar and coat them well before spooning on top of batter. I add a teaspoon of vanilla extract to the batter. Coating the peaches with brown sugar and cinnamon is good also.

the recipe that lovesbluegrass posted is a great recipe, but i sprinkle a bit of cinnamon on mine. quick and easy and soooo tasty. dolly parton used this recipe in the movie Steel Magnolias, she called it cupa, cupa, cupa, (cupa flour, cupa milk, cupa sugar)

Melt (in a 350 degree oven) 1 stick margarine in a casserole dish....

Mix together:

1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup milk

Pour over the melted margarine. Do NOT stir. Spoon peaches (with juices) on top of the mixture. Bake at 350 for approximately 1 hour.

I have tried a few peach cobbler recipes, but I can't find any that are similar to the peach cobbler at the Cottage House (it is so good!). Anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance for the help!
