use diced ham instead of tuna can. One of my friend made that. WhoKnowsWhoCares, U did not mention if can of green peas need to be drained first?

Seven Layer Salad ½ head of lettuce (Iceburg is traditional, but other salad greens can be used) 10 oz package of frozen peas (cooked and drained) ½ cup onions (red or purple add color but white is fine) ½ cup celery ½ cup green pepper 2 cups Dukes Salad dressing (some families use mayonnaise instead) 2 tsp sugar 4 slices crisp fried bacon (or bacon bits) 4 ounces shredded cheese (usually cheddar) A large clear glass bowl or punch bowl is ideal for this pea salad, because it’s possible to see all the various ingredients. They look very colorful and festive.

If you use can peas the Le Seur early peas are best. Read the label closely so you don't get the one with onions.

COLD GREEN PEA SALAD
1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen small peas (early party peas best) 1 tart, red-skinned apple 3 green onions, thinly sliced 1/2 c. sour cream 1/2 - 1 tsp. horseradish 1/4 tsp. salad 1/8 tsp. pepper 2 tsp. lemon juice
Turn peas from package into colander. Run hot water over until just thawed. Rinse in cold water and drain thoroughly. Without peeling apple, core and chop. Combine in bowl drained peas, chopped apple, and onion. Dressing: Combine sour cream, horseradish, salt, pepper, and lemon juice. Add to salad and mix lightly. Dressing can be made a day ahead. Serve in bowl lined with crisp greens. Yield 4-6 servings.

All I have ever had used mayonnaise and not salad dressing. It would be a matter of taste though as salad dressing is usually a little more sour than good, reliable Dukes or Hellman's Mayonnaise.
