really a dessert? i like the strange stuff that tastes what it isn't supposed to. lol

would ahve thought bitter or sour to bring flavor from some other food out.

Dessert like, not a savory dumpling.

getting past vinegar i cannot, so what do they taste like? i like old recipes and use my confederate cook book alot but even this old one is a new one on me. what are they good with for a meal too?

Vinegar Dumplings
Syrup
1/2 cup vinegar
1 cup sugar
1 stick margarine
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
1 cup water
Mix all the above together and bring to a boil
Drop dumplings into mixture and
boil about 15 minutes or until syrup is thick
Dumplings
1 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 Tablespoons margarine
6 Tablespoons milk
Mix all together, like you would for biscuits
Roll out into small rounds 1/2 inch thick and drop in
vinegar syrup.
