OLD FASHIONED GINGERBREAD

4 eggs
1 c. butter
1/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. vanilla
3 c. sugar
1 c. milk
1/2 tsp. soda
2 tsp. ginger

Flour to thicken, use plain or self rising. If use self rising flour and let dough sit for 1-2 hours. Makes better ginger bread than plain flour.

Knead dough on floured table. Roll out. Cut with cookie cutter or can use iron skillets to bake at 400 degrees until brown.

This recipe might work with self-rise flour if you just leave out the salt and baking soda, but I've really never tried it that way.

2 1/2 c plain flour
1/2 t salt
1 1/2 t soda
2 1/2 t ginger
1 c molasses
1/2 c sugar
1/2 c butter or shortnening
1 egg
1 c HOT water
melt butter or shortnening;combine dry ingredients;add egg, molasses and butter to dry ing.;add hot water;beat until smooth
bake 13x9x2 in or 2 9x9 in pans 350 degrees 40-45 min.
