JAPANESE FRIED RICE

Iem28607, I have never seen a japanese dish with ground pork... but I've ALWAYS seen solid chunks of meat.

I noticed something very important missing from the ingredients list (well, important in my mine) and that is sesame seed oil. Also if you want to make this with chicken like I do, find a japanese section of a food store and look for a packet of teriyaki seasoning... usually you just cut up chicken and boil for like 20 min... then dump thee water and add fresh water and simmer with the packet of teriyaki.... also add some teriyaki with the soy sauce and sesame seed oil into the rice.

MAKE SURE you are using "sticky" rice. The grain should be somewhat long. Don't use Minute Rice :D

I allways use thin sliced pork chops cut in slivers about 1/4 inch wide ,they get done and stay tender with just a little hot cooking.
I bet ground sausage would work too.

JAPANESE FRIED RICE


10 c. cooked rice
2 white onions, chopped
3 green onions, chopped
1 green pepper, chopped
1 carrot
1/2 lb. fresh pork
3 eggs, scrambled
4 mushrooms, sliced
1 sm. piece fresh ginger, chopped
3 tbsp. Sake (wine)
5 tbsp. soy sauce
1 tbsp. MSG (Ajinomoto)
3 tbsp. butter


Fry meat well; add Sake (Japanese wine) and add vegetables and seasoning. After meat and vegetables are cooked, add cooked rice and mix together. Scrambled eggs can be added. Preparation time: 30 minutes. Serves 6.
