Is it safe to drink the water I cooked kidney beans in?

I would not eat soaking water. If cooked then the food value is the same as the cooked beans. Cheaper to buy large can of them if you are making chili con carne.

Wait.....ok.....this year alone, I've consumed pokeweed, milkweed, purple deadnettle, dandelions from root to flower, pine needle tea, pine tree buds, plantain weed, goose grass, sow thistle buds, and 4 different types of wild mushrooms, with nothing more than websites, one book, and some youtube videos to ensure proper identification.....and lived to tell about it......and i had no clue that f****** kidney bean water could kill you? WTF?

You can go to Urgent Care at the very least they are a better choice than bean juice.

Yes, I get urgent care with a 20.00 co-pay.....the emergency room is 150.00......

I pointed out the toxicity of kidney beans back in September.

Smalltownman I was hoping it was pintos and rice. Red beans aka kidney beans have a toxin in them and should be boiled for at least 30 minutes. Cooking them in a slow cooker at 176 degrees can leave 5 times more toxin in them than a rolling boil. Precooked canned red beans should be ok.

I think the problem may be the poisonous gas after eating or drinking said beans.

It might not cure anything but the water you cook beans in is not poison, wash your beans first,
Haven't you ever heard of bean soup ?

Have you tried putting her in the microwave on high for 18-20 minutes? The guy painting the mural in the bathroom stall next to me over to the Texaco Station said that'd clear em' right up.

(Microwave cooking times may vary)

P.S. Please don't put your daughter in the microwave. I wouldn't normally feel compelled to actually add this statement, but if you're skipping a trip to the ER and going with kidney bean water because of something you read about it online, maybe a disclaimer is necessary to point out the satire.

Hope is correct. I've had stones that range in size from the size of an almond to the size of a grain of rice. I've had lithotripsy twice to blast them and passed several others over the years. The pain varies from a dull back ache that can last for months to writhing unbearable pain that no one want to experience. I don't see how drinking toxic bean juice or juice from watermelon seeds can help. If your daughter's urine is bloody or dark (mine has been the color of black coffee before) then it may be a stone or possibly a UTI. I'd take her to the doctor ASAP. If the stone leaves her Kidney and blocks the urethra then she's in trouble. Once it gets in the bladder it can cause blood and pain but it's not as dangerous. I've not had one in over 10 years. My urologist told me not to drink well water. I use the big bottles of water that you get at Walmart for my drinking, tea and coffee.

Seriously, if you think it may be kidney related, get it checked out. When I have a kidney stone that is trying to pass, my only symptom is pain, in varying degrees. Several years ago, I had some pain that I knew was a stone on the move, so I curled up in a ball and went back to sleep. There was some soreness the next day, but I didn't think much of it, figuring it had passed. Three weeks later I got what I figured was the flu. I had a fever, chills, vomiting. After a couple days I went to the ER for nothing other than to be rehydrated since I couldn't keep anything down. Turns out, that stone had gotten stuck, caused a kidney infection (that I didn't even notice), which caused sepsis since I left it untreated. This cost me over a week at Baptist, a stent to drain the infection and almost cost me my kidney. Don't mess around...even if pain is the only symptom.

The person at church only recommended the watermelon seed water because it works for his wife every time she has an attack. The kidney bean water remedy I found online.

I don't believe that for a minute...I see kidney stone attacks almost daily...and they're certainly not treated with bean juice!!!!

Here's the deal...you're not just treating her for flank pain, from a possible muscle strain.

You're clearly attempting to treat her for kidney stones...thus the watermelon/bean juice, as neither of those will relieve generalized muscle pain.

You need to realize that those folks at church are not your daughters savior in any shape form or fashion...you are responsible for your childs well being...what works for someones wife, is almost certainly not going to work for your child...and not only that...why in gawds name would you want it to!

Maybe check your insurance plan again....or rethink it altogether...most insurance plans..for minors will certainly cover emergency room visits...either all or part of said ER visit.

If your child is in pain...she's gonna have to wait another 6 hours while you boil kidney beans...do you see how stupid that all sounds.

If it is a kidney stone, I'm not sure what good this kidney bean/watermelon concoction is supposed to do. The only thing that might help in the tiniest bit would be Azo and a crap ton of water.
