3/4 cup buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon sugar

Sift flour into a bowl. Add shortning and mix until you have LARGE crumbs.
Add buttermilk and mix untill dough forms a ball. Remove from bowl and place on a floured surface. Kneed dough LIGHTLY, folding the dough back over on itself several times.Pat out flat to around 1/2 to 3/4 of a inch thick. Do not over kneed!! Cut buscuits with a cutter that has been dipped in flour.Do not twist the cutter. Put buscuits in a pan and put in a pre-heated 450 degree oven. Oven temp is important!!! Sometimes oven temps are not correct with what is on the dial. Buscuits that are really crumbly indicates the oven is not hot enough. Done on the outside and doughy inside means too hot.
