I put WD-40 on my pneumatic tubes on my SUV back door and it totally ate the gaskets away. Had to get new plungers.
I'd try some kitchen oil like Corn, Canola, etc.

It's soaking in wd40 right now. If that doesn't take it off, my daddy is going to pour denatured alcohol on it and let it sit. He said that would do it. I'm not willing to go that far so I'm taking it to him.

Wilkes Hardware in N. Wilkesboro have the gaskets and parts for these if you can get it off.

Put it in the freezer for a while. That may help it come off..... just an idea.

See...you guys are awesome! I don't think creatively. I wouldn't have thought of turning it upside down. I will try that!

Maybe if you turn the canner upside down with the lid under hot water and poured boiling water around the lip, it might cause the rubber seal to become tacky enough to move the lid to the unlock position. Good luck with your endeavors.

You might try to turn upside down and spray some WD-40 into the seal. Just a thought

Like adding water into it and boiling? I've tried it for about 15 minutes. You think maybe boiling longer?

Have you thought of boiling the lid and then cutting the gasket off. You would have to buy a new gasket. They can usually be purchased on line. Google for gasket and seal for your brand or contact the mfgr. of your product and see if they have better suggestions.

That might damage it, but I'm getting to the point of trying it.

Maybe take a flathead screwdriver and try to pry it open?

The lid on my pressure canner is stuck! It was stored by a family member for 30 years and they forgot to take the gasket out. Now it's dry rotted or melted or something. I've tried to steam it off and pry it off, though admittedly I don't have a lot of upper body strength. Just a typical housewife, not a body builder. HELP!!!
