The main difference Pintos compaired to Kidney beans .pintos will break apart after cooking and start to make the thicK soup in the bottom of the pot. Kindey beans are tougher and don't break up so easy. If you want EX ~thick chilibeans use some pintos ,if you want the beans to stay together use kidney.beasn. Or mix half and half.

Dark kidney beans are my favorite too! I like to add a can of black beans in with them as well.

Some peple use kidney, they are my fav. I always use one can of dark & one can of light ones...I've ate some that have pinto's & in my opinion they aren't as good because they get too mushy & I don't care for mushy beans

Some people consider pinto beans chili beans, actually, when you buy a can of "Chili Beans" if you read on the label they are pinto.
I, however, use kidney beans for chili. I like them better! :)
