I've had the meat version and it was called Chalupas (little canoes) by the person fixing them at his restaurant. He laid down a crisp tortila on the plate first, added the beans and then the meat. Then added all the other ingredients that would normally be on a taco. He also garnished each with a generous portion of guacamole, sour cream, and spicy salsa. He also served a side of pico de gallo with this. Delicious!

Haystacks (individual)
On a regular size dinner plate layer ingredients in order and top with your favorite dressing or salsa and sour cream. This makes a complete meal.
corn chips, heated until hot (pintos), shredded cheese, shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, diced cucumbers, chopped onions, black olives sliced, mushrooms ( drained)

Here's another way to make Haystacks! 2 cups suger, 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup butter(softened), 3 1/2 cups quick cooking oats, 1 cup flaked coconut, 1/2 cup chopped peanuts & a pinch of salt. In a saucepan bring sugar, cocoa, milk & butter to a boil. Remove from heat & stir in oats, coconut, nuts & salt. Drop quickly from a spoon on wax paper & let cool.
