For an interesting twist....you can make jams and marmalade with your breadmaking machines too!!!
for strawberry jam...
1 cup sugar
1 tbspn pwdrd low sugar pectin
1 1/2 cups fresh strawberries sliced
2 tspn lemon juice.
combine all ingredients into the bread pan
select basic setting
press start/stop allow this to mix about 5-6minutes, scrap sides of pan with rubber spatula, press start/stop to cancel
select "bake" setting
press start/stop when display reads 0:00, press start/stop again.
use hot pads to remove bread pan. pour jam into containers and cover. refrigerate to set...this recipe makes about 3 cups.
Frozen Berry Jam
1 3/4 cups of sugar
1pkg of frozen mixed berries or whatever mix you like...about 10-12 oz.'s
1pouch of liquid fruit pectin
1 tbspn of lemon juice
combine ingredients in bread pan
select basic setting press start/stop allow to mix 5-6 minutes scrap sides of pan with rubber spatula press start/stop to cancel
select bake setting pres start/stop when the machine signals 0:00 press start/stop
use hot pads to remove pan pour into containers cover, refrigerate to set...about 3 cups
Orange Marmalade...
1 1/4 cup of sugar
3 large oranges
2 tbspn of pwdrd low sugar fruit pectin
1 lemon
peel bright layer of peel from one orange and the lemon and chop finely
remove white peel from orange and lemon
peel remaining oranges
slice fruit into 1/2 inch pieces
combine chopped peels, fruit, sugar and pectin in bread pan
select basic setting
start/stop mix for 5-6 minutes..scrap sides with rubber spatula start/stop to cancels
select bake setting when the machine signals 0:00 press start/stop.
pour into containers, cover and refrigerate...makes about 3 cups

yes. i am on my third or fourth machine. great bread- when all goes well. i have seen some sad disappointments. the benefits are well worth the time and effort given. mistakes i have made include using bad yeast, old flour, forgetting salt, butter, sugar, and of course, the old kill the yeast with hot water trick.. if you do start to use one, i would advise you to keep some other bread as well. it is really sad to look at a loaf of bread that is only four inches tall instead of seven. the aroma of cooking bread is smooth, intense, and very fulfilling. it is very pleasing to see granddaughters walking around eating a piece of fresh bread! makes the best toast and french toast i have ever had, as well. just basically the old win, win deal for me. don't give up over a few mistakes.
