bake a chocolate cake - simple use a cake mix...and use chocolate frosting...i use a 9x13 glass baking dish....buy a pack of gummy worms...and cut each in half, stick down in the frosting and lay some across on the sides of the dish....gummy bugs and spiders- looks great on this too! this also works well with cupcakes. enjoy!

I forgot that I also added a glaze to the mummy, just powdered sugar and milk, mixed medium thick, but it was great.

I love Halloween and my brother has a block party for the kids every year which I attend. Last year they wanted a center piece so I found this mummy recipe. Unfortunately the filling was chicken cordon bleu. They wanted something sweet so I changed the filling to an apple pie recipe which I cooked down until it was very thick. For eyes I used dried blueberries. It was such a hit that I have been instructed to make 2 this year. See the links below.

You can add "shrunken heads" made from apples. They look so real floating in apple cider.

mommy2jk.... Thanks. let us know how things turn out. I've never done a pumkin punch bowl but I thought it'd be a neat idea.

i love your idea about the punch bowl. actually im having a party and i think im going to use that idea. the party is for my 5 year old and his friends so i think they would get a kick out of drinking from a pumpkin. thanks from me.

It's been almost 2 weeks since nclady's original post beginning this thread. She must of decided to have the party early without us and is now too tired and hungover to comment on it....

I read Karen's. This is how I do my pumpkin cake.
Use a bundt cake pan to bake a cake. After you turn it out and cover with orange frosting it looks like the top half of a pumpkin. You can use a cupcake with green frosting for the stem. Just set in down in the hole at the top of your cake. I've use this as a center piece on the goody table.

Are you gonna decorate for your Halloween party? That part would be fun.

I was thinking you could use a hollowed out pumpkin for your punch bowl. Maybe use black food coloring for the punch and float some decorations in it. Good luck!
