Shucks, I'd ask her again! Just tell her you didn't know how much of anything to put in then ye can work on it until ye get it right. Or better yet, ask her to SHOW you how she makes it. Questions answered, case solved!

I'll give you my recipe, probably not like grandma's though.
2 tbsp cold water 1/4 cup cider vinegar 1 tsp salt 1/2 tsp of black pepper, or to your taste 2/3 cup canola oil (or any good oil) 4 tsp brown or white sugar 2 to 3 cloves fresh garlic, peeled and crushed
mix all and shake well
set aside in refrigerator for an hour or so before using. Always refrigerate dressings that have fresh garlic in them unless you plan to use the dressing within several hours. Salmonella is a good friend to fresh home grown garlic.
(Especially good is bacon grease. Just reduce the oil by the amount of bacon grease.)
Some people heat this and pour it over the veggies or over torn lettuce salad.

my grandma use to make a salad that had a garlic dressing....i asked her how to make it and you know how grandmas go..a pinch of this and that...mine never taste the way her does....i know it has oil, vinegar, garlic powder, and garlic salt...and you poor it over cucumbers,onions, tomatoes and whatever else you want in it....by any chance does anyone else know how to make this and have some measurements of how its made...my grandma is to the point she doesnt cook much anymore because of her health and i dont want to ask again and her think i didnt listen the first time...lol...thanks
