Exploding Pyrex

This actually happened to me a couple of years ago. I am so glad that nobody got hurt because when my casserole dish exploded, it literally sounded like a gunshot and the shards of glass exploded everywhere. It was scary! Some of it turned to powder...that's how much force was behind that explosion. Be very careful with this stuff. It can be very dangerous!

I checked all my Pyrex dishes after reading this. I was glad that all mine is at least 15 years old. I have passed this info on to all my friends & family - this sounds like an accident waiting to happen.

Found this on Snopes. Think it will be of interest to all who cook using Pyrex. (Pyrex is now Chinese made and explodes like crazy in many circumstances.
