I've just gotten back on the internet after a couple months abcence and I was shocked to see this was still on a fairly recent thread. I'm so glad maybe I've started a new family tradition for some folks! I just had a salami sandwich...apple pie ham sounds much better!

Daddy P, center slices are sold in the meat dept. and are usually packed single in a vacum package. Tend to be more expensive than say a picnic or spiral, but you're buying the choice cut so the price is worth it.

Apple Pie Ham

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cups apple juice
1/4 cup butter, cubed
1 pkg (6oz) pork stuffing mix
1 medium tart apple, finely chopped
1/2 cup chopped sweet onion
1/4 cup chopped celery
1/4-1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 fully cooked spiral sliced ham, about 8lbs
1 can (21oz) apple pie filling
1/4 tsp ground cinnamon

In a large saucepan bring apple juice and butter to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in the stuffing mix, apple, onion, celery and walnuts. Place ham on a rack in a shallow baking pan. Spoon stuffing by tablespoonfuls between ham slices. Spoon pie filling over ham and sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake, uncovered, at 325 degrees for 1 1/4 - 1/ 3/4 hours or until a meat thermometer reads 140 degrees.

WOW. I'm glad you told me that. I hadnt thought of it...but it sure would make it more affordable for a regular dinner night to use just the slices. Thanks St Nick!!!
