country style steak- coat your steak with flour(saving the flour you have left over, you might be able to use it later)Brown your steak on each side. Then put in a crock pot. While you are browning the meat, dissolve one beef bouillon cube in a cup of hot water. After you have removed your meat from the pan, add 2 tablespoons flour(possibly what you had left over from rolling the steaks in) Stir. then add in the cup of water with the bouillon cube. This is your gravy that will go over the steaks in your corkcpot. Don't let it get too thick. You may have to add a little more water in the crockpot to get the gravy the thickness that you want. Cook for 4 hours.

I don't like water gravy, so whenever I fix a gravy to go with my meat, whether chicken or cubed steak, I always use milk or evaporated milk.

Old Boy Scout recipe that I learned many, many years ago. Flour and season steak w/salt & pepper. Brown on both sides. Open two cans of Campbell's condensed cream of mushroom soup and pour into pan. Cover and cook over a slow fire (medium-low on the stove) for 20-30 minutes. Add water as needed to keep "gravy" from becoming too thick. Serve w/mashed potatoes and biscuits and plenty of hot coffee, especially in winter!
Note: If you are back packing or camping..freeze the cube steak the night before you leave on your trip. It should be just about ready to cook the first night of camping trip.
Enjoy!!

This I learned:
In North Carolina the steak in rolled in flour, fried and a water gravy is made and the steak is then simmered in the gravy for several hours= country style steak.
In Texas the steak is dipped in egg, rolled in flour, and then a creamed gravy is made with milk and poured over the steak= Chicken Fried Steak.

My mother fried hers just like Eeyore said and served it with white country gravy. We would also have either mashed potatoe or home fries. Yummy! Biscuits, green beans and peach cobbler finished the meal. This was a family favorite.

Brown the cube steak with salt and pepper and a small amount of oil. Then add diced celery, onions, and a large can of diced tomatoes. You may need to add a little water. Cover and simmer, stirring every so often, until the celery is soft and thoroughly cooked. You will need to add more salt/pepper to your taste. This is very good...and it goes great with baked potatoes. The sauce tastes great as a potato topping!

I just cook mine real slow in the frying pan with a lid on it to keep it from getting tough. Then make some regular gravy and put the steak in the gravy. Quick, easy.
