I agree with steamed vs. really oven baked concept. But one thing I have decided is that once I add the butter and salt and sour cream and cheese......can I really tell that much difference? BUT......I still prefer them baked like some said......not wrapped in foil and placed directly on the oven rack. They're just better that way. I would think that as long as you didn't wrap them in foil, crockpot baking would work good too. But then, I don't know nothing! LOL

Wrapping a potato you wish to bake, in foil, is a good way to never have a baked potato.
What you will have is a steamed potato.
Once you've scrubbed the potato, rub in all over with a little olive oil or butter. Roll it around in Kosher salt to coat the peeling. Scrub the potato good because you will want to eat that delicious crispy peel.
You can skip this step, and still have a perfectly cooked baked potato, steaming hot, and mealy, ready for butter and/or sour cream.
To bake a potato, you should never wrap in foil. Lay the potato in a 425-450 oven right on the middle rack.
Bake until a knife goes in with no resistance. Really large potato, about 1 hour.
and cooking it in the crock pot will just give you a steamed potato as well. A baked potato should be, well, baked.

Ribs. Can't get any easier. Just cut them into sections and place in crockpot. Pour BBQ sauce over and cook. We do brown ribs in the oven under the broil for a few minutes to reduce the fat and seal in the flavor. But that's a personal preference thing.

38, have you ever had pork chops and rice fixed in the crockpot?
Dip chops in water, then flour, then season with salt, pepper, garlic powder and brown in a skillet. Place chops in crockpot and pour a can of chicken and rice soup over them and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours. Very easy and VERY good. If fixing a few chops use a small can of soup. If fixing several, use a large can.

Make stew beef one day. Use the left over beef to make homemade soup the next.

Crock pot taters are great...but don't think I would do it for just one tater...unless...you throw some other things in there with it.
Here's a thought. Wrap a small canned ham in foil, and that one tater in foil, and some carrots in foil and cook them all at the same time. The ham will turn a light brown color, but will taste incredible.
Also, if'ns you like oatmeal, cook it overnight in the crock pot...the old fashioned type.
