throw it in a big pot of lightly salted water and boil it for 6-12 hours, then put it under the broiler till the skin starts darkening up pretty good and turns crispy it shouldn't take more than an hour or two

Let him soak with some salt and rub him. Put some fresh stuff up his ***, use pinapple to stick on him and juice at the bottom.Cover with tin foil. Put it on low heat all day and all night and you got yourself the most juice piece of bird you ever ate especially with the breast meat.

brine the bird! before you cook it, brine it for a couple of hours!..or, soak it over =night in buttermilk.
your cookbook should have good brine recipes. i brine all poultry, and pork before i cook.

Remember to take out that giblet packet. I know someone who left that in on their first attempt and got a turkey that tasted like cardboard (I guess from the paper wrapping on the giblets).

Funny. I love Lucy one of their episodes was a Thanksgiving Dinner and Lucy drops the Turkey and QUICKLY picks it up and say, " I will go to the Kitchen and get the Other Turkey." So funny.

Wake up really early. That is my best tip. you can nap once the bird is in oven, unless you are OCD and have not prepped your sides.

What fun! When I was young and had that first turkey I went with The Joy of Cooking Cookbook. Now I have my own way. We have baked turkey (my favorite), Fried Turkey.. BBQ Turkey... Have fun with your first turkey! Ask your mom, if she is still alive...use the Butterball app! make your own tradition...drop one or two of your best efforts on the kitchen floor and spill your best gravey.
