2 (6.5 oz) canned clams
1 c chopped onion
1 c diced celery
2 c diced potatoes

Blend onions, celery and combine with drained clams. Barely cover with water and simmer 20 minutes.

Sauce:
3/4 c butter
3/4 c flour
1 qt. milk (or half and half)
1 1/2 tsp salt
1/2 TBS sugar
pepper to taste

melt butter in saucepan and add flour a little at a time and stir continously until smooth. Add milk, salt, sugar, and pepper and cook, stirring constantly until well blended. Mix with vegetable mixture and allow to simmer for a few minutes until ready to eat.

You may need to add a little water or you may want to mix the water with milk if you like it a little less creamy. This is a good recipe! I love it with cornbread.
