Tim McGraw was on Oprah one day and made his Grandma's recipe.......I tried it and was suprised at how good it was. Go to Oprah's website or google "Tim McGraw Oprah chicken recipe".......thats how I got it.

If you roll the dumplin's out flat enough it looks more like pastry....thats' more like Eastern NC style Chicken Pastry.

1 whole chicken 3 cups flour
water
2 tlbs. butter
2 cans chicken broth
2 drops of yellow food coloring


cook chicken until done, remove chicken from broth, add 2 cans of chicken broth to cooked broth thats already in cooker reduce heat. add food coloring to broth and stir until mixed, let mixture simmer until u mix up batter for dumplings, mix 3 cups flour and water until mixture is slightly stiff, increase heat until mixture starts boiling, while boiling add rounded teaspoons of dough to boiling mixture until all dough is used keep boiling until dumplings are fully cooked, after dumplings are fully cooked add chicken back to dumplings and u are ready to eat.
(a little note: do not add salt because canned chicken broth is already salted)

you can make the dumplings from bisquick mix if you have it:

Ingredients
Amount Ingredient Preparation
2 1/2 cups biscuit baking mix
2/3 cups milk

Directions

Mix bisquick and milk until soft dough forms. Drop dough by spoonfuls onto stew (do not drop directly into liquid). Cook uncovered over low heat 10 minutes. Cover and cook 10 minutes longer.

cook your chicken just abought done. and put the dumplings
in the pot of chicken and put a lid on the pot and let the Dumplings steam till done. and then Call Me when you set my plate.LOL
