One pound of ground beef browned and drained.

Add one small head of cabbage coarsely chopped to this with a 6 ounce can of tomato paste and a 15 ounce can of tomato sauce.

Cook until most of the liquid is absorbed or cooked away.

Taste like spaghetti for anyone watching carbs.

This is quick,I left-over chicken breas or thight, boiled or baked, then shredded or cubed. Reserve chicken. If boiled, reserve water.

Add reserved water from boiled chicken and add enough water to equal 2 cups liquid.

Add to liquid: 1 cup comet rice, 1 tbsp butter or margarine, 1/2 tsp salt. Bring to a boil.

Add to this 2 tbsp shredded carrots and 2 tbsp green peas (left over canned, Leseur peas are great for this.)

Bring temperature down to low, cover, and let simmer 18 minutes. Do not remove lid while simmering.

Add Chicken and stir into cooked rice.

If you have green onion tops available or chives rehydrated, add a tsp or so to this mixture. (Optional)

Add 1 can condensed mushroom or cream of chicken mixture to this.

Stir and simmer until hot.

Really a nice main course with a congealed fruit salad or raw fruit and cheese.

Sometimes when I am short on time & money, I will take 2 cans of baked beans, 1 cup of thick & chunky salsa, 1 pound cooked ground beef & heat through. Quick, easy & cheap & my family loves it.

When I want something quick and inexpensive, I stir fry in a skillet any vegetables combination with most any meat combination and add a pkg of Raman Noodles that I have put in microwave while the veggies were cooking.
I sometimes top the cooked noodles with the veggies, and sometimes I stir the noodles in with the veggies. Add a splash of soy sauce, salt and pepper, and garlic salt or chopped garlic.
If I have any leftover meat, beef, chicken or pork, I will cube it up and add to the stir fry. This is very good, quick, and cheap.

I usually just drink a glass of water for breakfast, pick my teeth for lunch and go to bed before supper. Now thats cheap. Sometimes I will flavor it with rabbit tracks when I reallly need to impress company coming in from out of town.

Also, thanks to the super walmart you can get a large bag of prepared meatballs for $4.98. You get 80 large meatballs, which will feed my family at least 3 times, depending upon what we eat. This can easily be heated and added to spaghetti noodles and a jar of sauce for a quick but really cheap meal.

Also, we have used these meatballs as barbequed meatballs. Put them in a baking dish, cover with bbq sauce. Bake until meatballs are hot on 350. Serve with mashed potatoes, brown and serve rolls and veggies. Have a really quick and easy, cheap meal.

One other thing we do with these meatballs are make pizza subs. We put the meatballs in a glass bowl with pizza sauce, heat in the microwave until hot, add to subrolls with mozarella cheese. They are GREAT! :)

These recipes sound great!!!! :) I need to try them soon.

For the french toast casserole, does it get crispy or is it squishy? My husband does not like "Squishy" french toast. :)

Tuna Casserole

1 -can tuna
1 -16 oz bag wide egg noodles

1 -1/2 lb block of chedder cheese

Bake for about 20 minutes on 350 degrees.
Serve with your choice of veggie and bread.

1 bag mixed dried beans (I got these in a box when we bought from Angel Food and didn't want to waste them.) $1.00
1/2 lb. ground turkey $.79 (I bought 1, 1 lb. tube, cooked it and divided it)
16 cups of water Free! Well sort of at least
1 small can tomato soup plus one can water $.50
6 cubes of beef bouillon about $.35 (I buy it in the jar for $1.82)
1/2 bag mixed vegetables $.42 (I bought 1 package for $.84)
garlic powder should have on hand but can get for $.50 w/ many uses
italian seasoning same as above
and I'm going to add some onions when we have it for dinner tonight. about
$.50 or you might have some from your garden! http://img.diaperswappers.c...">

Rinse the beans, bring to a boil in the water for 2 min (mine went a little longer, no biggie) Let soak for 1 hour. About 1/2 way through this soak I added in my bouillon and tomato soup and ground turkey. Once an hour has passed turn the heat back on to high, once it is boiling add your veggies, then reduce heat to medium. Cook until beans and veggies are done. I served it with a piece of crusty, everything seasoned bread that I got on the bakery discount cart and had in the freezer.

Total: $3.56 if you had the seasoning on hand - the bread
$4.56 if you had to buy the seasoning - the bread
$3.72 if you had the seasoning and served it with the bread
$4.72 if you had to buy seasoning and served it with bread

Spanish rice with beef

1 lb ground beef
1 can of corn
1 can stewed tomatoes
1c water
1 1/2c minute rice
1/2tsp chili powder
1/2tsp oregano
1/4tsp garlic powder

Brown beef, breaking into pieces. Drain fat. Stir in everything except rice and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium, add rice and cover for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let sit 2-3 minutes. Stir before serving.

Beef and rice

1lb ground beef $1.99
2 cups white rice
4 cups water
2 chicken bulion cubes
1 small onion
5-6 cloves of garlic (or garlic powder would work too)
1 teaspoon cinnamon (sounds weird, but is really good!

Brown the ground beef in a large stock pot with the garlic and oinions. drain the fat. Add cinnamon. Dissolve chicken bullion in 4 cups HOT water, pour over beed onion and garlic mixture. Add rice and bring to a boil. Remove from heat, cover and let sit for 20 minutes or until rice is done.

French Toast Casserole

1 loaf whole wheat bread ($1)
8 eggs ($1.50)
3 cups milk ($.75)

cinnamon
sugar

Mix together some sugar and cinnamon for topping. Tear bread into cubes and place half in a greased 9x13 baking dish. Mix the eggs and milk together and pour half of mixture over the bread and sprinkle with topping mix. Place the rest of the bread cubes in pan and repeat egg mixture and topping mix. Cover and refridgerate overnight (or over the day). Remove from fridge 30 minutes before baking. Cover with foil and bake at 350F for 45-50 minutes. Serve with butter and syrup.

This is a great way for your whole family to be able to eat french toast at the same time! It reheats great as well. I usually cut it into servings and put each one in a freezer bag once it has cooled and then my DD can have french toast any morning she wants. Just thaw in microwave and it's better than the eggo waffles...and cheaper

One of my son's favorites (I always make a bunch and freeze them in small containers for him to take home) is something I call beefaroni. I brown a pound or so of hamburger, dice a medium sweet onion into this mixture, sprinkle some Italian seasoning and a crushed garlic clove or tsp of garlic salt, 1/2 cup diced sweet pepper, 1/4 cup diced celery, 1 jar Newman's Own Marinara sauce, about 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1 bay leaf, and one star anise. While I am doing this, I cook a box of macaroni or ziti and when it is finished I drain it and toss in a tbsp butter or margarine and 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese. Add all other ingredients and 1 small can crushed tomatoes. Bring to a scald temperature, remove from heat, taste and add some tomato catsup if it needs it.

He loves this and it is so quick. I always have the ingredients on hand and it is ready in minutes.

When my wife and I have this I use mashed potatoes, no noodles, and ladle the sauce into a well in the mashed potatoes. Sprinkle more parmesan or mozzarella as desired.
